Posted By: Jerry
I Picked up a nice Hooper Boston Amer. Lg. Colgan's chip at the Tri-Star show this weekend. The SMR list a Natl. Lg. Variation of this card. Since Harry did not play for the Braves in his career, I'm taking that this was an error that was corrected. The SMR list the value as the same on these 2 cards which i don't understand. How rare is the natl. lg. version and does it get a premium over the Amer. Lg. version. I noticed Hal had the Natl. Lg Variation as Hooper's Rookie card. Would both versions be considered his rookie or would the Natl. Lg be considered an earlier card.
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn something about this card.

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
Didn't see your post until today.

Hooper never played for the Boston Nat'l League team, so the error card tends to be a little more in demand. The correct version is a little easier to find, however the error isn't too hard to find (as far as Colgans go).

For a long time checklists listed a similar error card for Tris Speaker (American & National League versions), but the Speaker N.L. version was never made--likely a checklister got Hooper and Speaker mixed up (probably the same guy who had Joe Jackson listed in the E254 set).

Anyways, hope this helps. Likely the price would be a little stronger on the error card, but not by a ton.

-Rhett

Hooper Tin Top
