Good luck

I bid but it went over my snipe.

The dark staining front and back and stuck white paper (or paper lose) on bottom left is 100% in line, and the surface wear (tiny white spots) on front and on right edge of picture and surface wear to the back and the corner wear looks 100% OK too. The 2 cracks at top right side near the big white dot looks OK too and consistant with this issue. Surface chipping (large and small dots of white) is a problem with this issue.

IMO I think the Library of Congress card has too much yellow color to the scans.

Here is another one that is SGC-50, next to the one on eBay tonight. All scanners and scans are slightly different.

Frank

Posted By: Judge Dred (Fred)
The item description or check out section indicates that there is NO RETURN on this item. That's a red flag but when I contacted the seller they said that they'd refund the winning bid amount if the card was a reprint. It was less than $300 so it's kind of a scarey proposition.

With all that said I believe it's REAL. It's a bit hard to determine by looking at the scan but it does look real (I guess a lot of reprints on ebay do look a bit real). I would have bid on that card if the seller would have provided a larger scan of the card as I had requested. I sure hope it's real for the buyer's sake - nobody likes those kinds of headaches.

Posted By: James Feagin
I think it's a fake because the LOC has a "lithograph and factory" designation, the one for sale does not.

James

Posted By: Ben
Authentic N162's come both with and without the "Geo S. Harris & Sons" line of small text at the bottom. I remember wondering this when I first got a N162 without the line. The Keefe in question is legit, and I think someone got a good deal on it.

Posted By: fkw
I never knew they came with and without line at bottom. I did a search...

Here is a scan (below) of the backs of 3 nonbaseball N162's. I know its not easy to see but 2 dont have the line and 1 does.

I still think the Library of Congress scans, even thought they are very high quality, are a bit yellow especially the backs.
