Posted By: Brad Green

The First April "Recent Pickup Thread" is getting long, so it's time for the Second April thread. I don't have anything new that you guys haven't already seen, but I hope everyone else will post away...

Edited to add:

I do have something new that you guys haven't seen. It's a check written by Lefty to the Town of Lonaconing for taxes. Lefty and I both grew up in Lonaconing.

I just need 5 more cards to complete my 153 card
run of the 150 Series (156 possible cards cards - Magie & Plank & Wagner).

Posted By: fkw
Hi Tim, Wonder if you can tell me if this Cochrane I recently picked up is a R314D?? I read your great article in the curent Old Cardboard Magazine. I havent seen the card in person yet, but from the checklists the only set this card could be from is the much rarer R314D. Also are the Minor Leaguers any scarcer than the Detroit players in the "D" subset?

Frank

Posted By: Josh K.
Hey Jim,

Yes - there is some damage due to scrapbook removal. The front of the card is a solid EX at worst. Unfortunately, I believe when/if I cross it over to SGC, the card will drop another grade. Its a great looking card regardless.

Posted By: Jon Canfield
Will, Your pack is a candy cigarette pack - not a cigarette pack. So, there is no stamp on it! They are not related to the American Tobacco Company but borrowed the ATCo's graphics. They are from the same time period as the the cards (1907-1915 - somewhere in there). I always thought they were really really cool items and I also own one. Bought it two years ago on eBay for around $20-25. It's in nice condition.
