Posted By: Brian E.
It still amazes me and forever will, how people will continue to gamble hundreds of dollars on doctored reprints. This one sold earlier for $435. While it isn't that bad of knockoff, it is still missing the factory designation.

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8794499069&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1</a" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8794499069&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1</a>

BTW, if someone does have a slabbed American Beauty Cobb they'd part with, please let me know because I haven't seen one in the last year that I've been looking.

Posted By: Charlie O'Neal
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the top card a fake b/c the white boarder on a real American Beauty is not as thick. Everyone that that I have seen has had the white border edges about 1/3 the thickness, since they were cut to fit into smaller thinner packages. Just trying to see if I remembered something.

Posted By: Brian E.
It is interesting to note that in the six hours since I first posted this, the completed auction has been clicked on 50 times; It was at 278 when I first posted. Just an interesting tidbit to show the exposure this board gets, espicially if you're "that guy" who outs an active auction

Brian E.

If you read his feedback there is 1 negative complaining of altered cards.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-Ed-Plank-As-293-HOF-Old-Mill_W0QQitemZ8788388940QQcategoryZ86840QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

Posted By: John S
What always strikes me about many of these reprints is how badly the font style of the name and team compare to the originals. Never want to see someone get burned, but $400 is $400. Educate yourself or ask someone before bidding. Hopefully the scammer "sold" it to one of his shill-bidding scammer buddies.
