Posted By: davidcycleback
As noted earlier, I'm finishing a guide to sports photographs-- all sports, 1839 to today. One of the challenges in writing a guide for collectors is anticipating all the things collectors want to know. I have to read their minds before they've thought.

Thus, anyone who has questions about photos, stamps or whatever or wishes a certain area or specific information to be included in the book, feel free to email me.

Also, I am including a section on how to date early baseball uniforms and equipment, which is a great way to date baseball photographs. I am considering including similar short guides for other sports, particularly football, boxing, hockey and even tennis, but am no expert in those areas. If any old time football, boxing or hockey afficianados wish to help out in this area, that would be great and they would receive due credit in the book. If there are already relevant guides in these areas, I would list them as outside resources for readers.

Thanks and best wishes
David

Posted By: joe
Just wondering are you planning on putting all thes photos in your book? If you are just finishing the it seem like you would not use all the photos you would receive with this request. What are you looking for scans of all photos collectors on the board have or 1 example of a certain time period?

Joe

Posted By: davidcycleback
Finishing means I have a month or two left. Writing the text is the main task, and picking photos is about the last part (though photos are picked along the way). There are many areas and sports where I don't have the images I need and am still actively looking for photos to be used. For example, I have few real photo postcards right now. If you were to ask me which are the photos that will be published, or even which cabinet card images will be published, I can't tell you because I don't know yet.
