Posted By: martin dalziel
Don't think they're period, but based on the printing, the paper, and the oxidization to the wood, I'd say 40's/50's, and there is a card portion of each one.

I'm being facetious in my title re. new 'F' issue, but would be interested to know if anyone has seen these 'cards' before and has any info?

They were advertised as "Hot dog servers" which is what they appear to be. The card portion measures approx 2" x 3" and is pasted into the wooden holder.
The captions aren't obvious in the scan - interestingly, while the Mathewson & Alexander both have position and team, and the Huggins has Manager and position and team, the Cobb says "Famous baseball player". There doesn't appear to be anything on the backs of the cards, when holding them up to strong light.

Posted By: Tim James
My first impression would be that they date earlier than the 40's or 50's.I may be mistaken, but I would think that paper servers were used during that period.Very interesting pieces,I've never seen anything like those.I would say they could be used as popcorn servers also.
