Posted By: Joe_G.
I normally wait for auctions to end but this item is incorrectly labeled by PSA (although seller does give clue that it isn't really a script card by stating it's an 1889 example). I recognize many of the bidders as members of the forum so thought I'd share the error in case you didn't catch it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1887-N172-Old-Judge-ROGER-CONNER-Script-PSA-5-HOF_W0QQitemZ8789525273QQcategoryZ31718QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The card is not an 1887 script card (script cards usually carry a premium). It is instead an 1889 example, not a script even though you can see script writing. I have no interest in this card, just passing along the info.

Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

<edit> to better explain situation.

Posted By: Joe_G.
The example above is not a script card but instead an 1887 long numbered (aka leading zero) type II card. The long numbered cards, type I & II are amongst the most common covering 505 poses amongst 117 players.

The script cards were earlier 1887 issue covering the NY Mets Spotted Ties (16 cards) and another 17 cards including 3 of Kelly (w Chicago), Welch & Connor. All the cards, except Kelly & Smith are from the NY Mets & NY Giants.

Best Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

Posted By: Joe_G.
Here are the only two Connor Script cards.

He has two other poses that were first issued in 1888 and a 5th that is only known as an N173 cabinet. Pose #2, first issued in 1888 was re-issued in 1889 and that is what can be found at eBay link above.

Regards,
Joe Gonsowski

Maybe not, but it does make you wonder.

If PSA would get their act together it wouldn't be an issue.
