Posted By: Hal Lewis
We already know that some cards picture IRV YOUNG instead of CY Young... so I am wondering if this is another of those carrds?

This card has just NEVER looked like any picture I have ever seen of CY Young... but it sure looks like IRV.

Posted By: Anson
Kind of looks like a hybrid of the two. Irv's nose with Cy's chin. I dunno but I agree it doesn't look much like Cy.

Posted By: dennis
yes it is cy young. i base this on the fact that cy young threw right handed and the player in the e card is throwing right handed. irv threw left handed.

Posted By: Hal Lewis
Dennis:

The player on the card I asked about isn't really doing anything.

I guess it could be said that he is throwing...

but he could also be reaching out with his glove to catch a ball.

Posted By: J McKenna
If you can believe the Baseball Encyclopedia, only one Young every pitched for Cleveland, and it wasn't IRV.

Posted By: dd
The player depicted doesn't resemble cy at all. Does not need to be Irv either or a Cleveland player for that matter.

Posted By: Josh K.
JMckenna - I dont think Hal or anyone else is questioning whether the card is supposed to be cy young (ie the HOFer who pitched for cleveland) but whether the player actually pictured is, in fact, cy young as opposed to another player (Irv or s/o else). It was not uncommon for cards to have the wrong player pictured - for example, cy's e98 card depicts Irv Young.

Posted By: Chris Mc
Right handed follow through but he is looking up which leads me to think he may have just got a hit or I guess he could have tossed a ball in from the outfield?(Maybe it's another player pictured, like a Tango Eggs type mix up.)

Posted By: Anson
That pic doesn't look much like Cy either.

I agree, he could be rolling dice with the E92 for all we know. I think several of the caramels don't look too much like the player that's supposed to be depicted on the card

Posted By: identify7
Certainly a photographic card should resemble the player shown in the caption. But who am I to critique the drawing of an artist?
