Posted By: Brian C. Daniels
As more of a courtesy to help fellow collectors moreover a profit motive~
Leon has allowed me to post this in the general reading section~
************************************************** ***********************

Again I am offering lighted plastic loupes and long wave Fluorescent pocket lamps(with built in flash light too!).These are excellent for detecting air brushing (in or outside the slab~) and/or corner restoration and crease pressing or corner rebuilding.

and 3 & 1/2 inch "lighted" plastic loupes much like the ones the optometrist uses when he examines your eyes. These loupes are excellent for viewing corners with the light and seeing trimmed and or abraded edges. No more shadows when someone walks behind you or looks over your shoulder! You'll never loose focus because of light distractions! The lenses are corrected for curvature like jewelers loupes costing $35-60 and allow a real view enlarged to 10x for easy viewing of flaws, print spots and pressed out creases. Many of you have purchased one or both of these items from me before of over 75 of each sold,I had one return which I replaced for free. I even gave Julie one a couple of years ago!

The lights fit easily in your shirt pocket so you can carry it around the shows or in your shirt pocket where you might want to examine cards behind the water cooler at work. The loupes are half the size and square to hold one "A" cell battery. They are durable and should last a long time if you care for them as you would your cards!

Loupes are $14.50 each postpaid!

Fluorescent UV lights are also $14.50 postpaid!

I can be Paypaled @ Lomismo@earthlink.net
and they will on their way to you within 36 hours!

$28.00 for both . Thanks much. Happy Collecting

Posted By: davidcycleback
Longwave black lights are most useful to collectors of vintage baseball cards or any type of old paper memorabilia (programs, tickets, photos, magazines, premiums, etc etc). I recommend any collector of this type of stuff to buy one. Black lights are easy to use and useful in identifying fakes and reprints, alterations to cards, etc.

They depleted their warehouse sending much of this years donations to Katrina victims. It's the largest outreach program in California and my family serves meals and delivers food baskets each Thanksgiving. Had 17 contacts already-they will appreciate the sales~ Thanks everyone.

Posted By: davidcycleback
Longwave black lights, such as which Brian is offering and I recommend people buy, can identify many modern reprints of vintage cards, photographs (wirephotos, Ty Cobb photos, Charles Lindbergh photos, etc) and any vintage paper material. A black light doesn't know what is a baseball card or postcard or movie poster or 1942 Yankees ticket, but it can identify many types of modern paper and cardstock used to make those things. Many types of modern paper and cardstock used modern chemicals which are invisible under normal daylight, but fluoresce brightly way under black light. Even if you know nothing about 1920s movie posters or Italian postcards or have never seen before a Batter Up or 1923 Maple Crispette , you can still identify many reprints with a black light due to the fluorescence.

Black lights are easy to use, and you don't need any scientific background to get results.

It is not my desire to sell something here, but my baseball card guide has a chapter on how black light works and how a colletor can identify reprints with it. I offer this guide here also as there seems to have been a lot of questions about authenticating vintage baseball cards in general (T205, Cracker Jacks posts) that the guide also answers. I guess you can consider it a suppliment to Brian's offerings.

'Judging the Authenticity of Early Baseball Cards':
http://www.cycleback.com/baseballcardguide.htm
I set up the web page to allow people to pay right away with PayPal. Just click the magic button.

I should also add that the guide also shows how a black light is used to identify reprinted and fake modern cards, including 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan, 1984 Fleer Update Roger Clemens and 1979 OPC Wayne Gretzky. Black light is important for modern card collectors too, especially if they are hunters of raw Jordan RCs and such.

Posted By: Brian C Daniels
Because we are "hobby friends"

hee hee

Thank you everyone for all the sales thus far. I have sent out 22 combinations of lights/loups today and will fill the rest tomorrow.
I have 25 of each left or so which I suspect will fill the obligation of food for City Team. We all have our place of helping I think and for the last few years on Thanksgiving this has been me and mine. Thanks again.

Posted By: Damian
I love them! I had a "nice" $11 jeweler's loupe. You know the one. Nice but obsolete compared to this. View is quick and appears much more upclose with fine detail. The blacklight/flashlight is awesome as well! Folks, for real this is steal at $27 shipped. Really, get one. Card corners will not look the same from now on.

Damian

Posted By: davidcycleback
Half a ditto here. If you have extra black lights, I'll buy one. I've written about black lights so much, I figure I might as well buy one and see if it really works. (Actually, I've been looking to buy a new one).
