Posted By: <b>davidcycleback</b><p>If you have transportation, you might chose to visit the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Has everything from a Lunar Roving Vehicle to a Sputnik to Pre WWI planes to supersonic jet fighters-- all complete and all indoors. It's a bit of a surral experience walking around in a room filled with airplanes. High ceilings.

It's a boarded up rat infested former crack house (seriously), but it's better than anything in Austin (not seriously).<br /><br />There are antique malls in Seattle, including one near my home, but nothing to get excited about. There's one in the heart of downtown, which is a nice area for vistors to walk around anyway.

Posted By: <b>Glenn</b><p>In Austin, there are a few places in the northern part of town, up on Burnet Road. If you'll just be downtown there's not as much of what you're looking for, but Palmer Auditorium hosts a "Citywide Garage Sale" several times a year, so you might look into that. <br /><br />Also, I recommend Kyoto (on Congress) if you like sushi. And check out the Gutenberg Bible at the Ransom Center (21st and Guadalupe) if you're going to be on the UT campus.<br /><br />edited to add: Almost forgot, the best dinner I've had in my life was at the Palace Kitchen (on 5th) in Seattle. Anyway, these are two of my favorite American cities; you must have a pretty cool job.
