Posted By: Josh
Looking for a little help on the potential value for this RARE T206 Mathewson dark cap color separation card. I know that color variations are tough to find, but we've never seen one for a top level HOFer like Matty.
I just have the images, not the card yet, but it is a potential lot in our September auction, and I'd like to get some idea of what it might fetch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks so much for any help on this.
Josh

Posted By: JimB
My guess would be in the $5,000 range, but it is really hard to say on a card like that. Great card!
JimB

Posted By: robert a
It's interesting that all of the cards that I have seen over the years with those colors missing have exactly the same back. It must've been only one sheet.

Baker sold for about $400 if I remember correctly.

Posted By: T206Collector
...was in my hands for a short time. I sold it for about $300 in cash and trade value combined. The purchaser flipped it on ebay where it fetched about $325. But the Baker had more than just yellow colors. It had some green, too. And Baker's skin was quite pink. I think it was basically just missing the blue. That's why I didn't think much of it. Really, I found it to be quite ugly.

I put a post on the B/S/T for it and got about three people interested at a price point above $200. Many other people expressed interest, but most fell out of the running when I told them I had been offered about $250-$300 in cards/cash.

Anyway, Matty has quite a following, so I would expect this card to fetch between $1,500 and $2,000. Perhaps more if two Matty collectors get into it.

Posted By: Damian
Josh,

I bought a Baker from a fellow board member recently. Not sure if its the one being talked about here on this thread or not. I sent it in for grading and PSA slabbed as a one. Looks much nicer than that, but has a small amount of paper loss on the back, and doesn't really have the creasing the Matty does, and I think the Matty is trimmed. Anyway, it will be on ebay soon and should give you an idea of what your Matty would fetch. My guess is your card will garner a bit more than my Baker. We should know in a week or so. PM me, Josh, and I will give you the item number when it goes up so you can watch it. I am glad I can help for once here instead of being helped.

Damian

Posted By: T206Collector
...I do not think it's a good test specimen for the Mathewson, because that Baker was only missing the blue -- his skin was pink, there was some green, and, of course, yellow. The Matty is only the yellow, which I believe is the first stage of the coloring process. Blue, I believe, was the last stage of the process, and it missed just that one.

Posted By: Cobby33
I had a Seymour I sold in the $500 range.
I realize that you are likely going to list is as raw, but to whomever buys it, don't send yours to SGC. They'll send it back claiming they don't know what to do with it.

Posted By: Robert
THere is a card just listed on EBAY that looks like it came from the same sheet as this Matty. Same back and everything.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-11-T206-PRINT-Incomplete-ERROR-PSA-Authentic_W0QQitemZ8761710501QQcategoryZ31718QQrdZ 1QQcmdZViewItem

Just listed and already at almost $300.00 It's a Murphy batting and does'nt have the same fire power as this Matty but should give you a nice gauge to price it out.
