Posted By: Bob S
I'm asking a lot of questions tonight.

Back in the late 90's, I bought a considerable number of Cuban BB cards from our own member, Scott Gaynor.

I was wondering if there is any source material for identifying manufacturers, year(s) of issue, value, etc., for these items.

Thanks.

Bob

Posted By: Bob S
Hi Hal,

I'm not sure. Most are blank backed, and I'm sorry, but I don't know what Cuban Polars are.

Bob

Posted By: Bob S
Andy and Hal.

I don't think any of them have the Polar imprint. They are in storage away from my home, so I'll have to go get them and when I do I'll post design characteristics, written info, etc. I may attempt to scan some, as well (long story as to why that is a problem for me)

My guess is that most predate the 50's, but that's an uneducated gues.

Thanks again, and if you know of reference sources, or know anybody who does, please post and I'll check back under my original post from time to time.

Best regards,

Bob

Posted By: Ryan Christoff
Wow, I just looked at that first link that Andy posted and that site is AMAZING!!! Best site on the web? Perhaps.

In all seriousness, though, the website in the 2nd link has quite a few errors but good info for what you're looking for as well.

If you have scans or can describe the cards I can probably identify most or all of what you have. What's your ebay handle? I keep pretty good records on Cuban cards that sell on ebay, so I might be able to tell you what you bought, how much you paid, and when you bought it.

I'm in the process of writing an Encyclopedia of Latin American baseball cards that would have been exactly the referece you're looking for. I know this does you no good to hear about now, but it's more motivation for me to get it finished.

-Ryan
