Posted By: Wesley
What is the fair market value for each of the cards below?

PSA 3 E90-1 Cobb
PSA 3 E92 Cobb
PSA 3 E93 Cobb
PSA 3 E94 Cobb
PSA 3 E95 Cobb
PSA 3 E98 Cobb
PSA 3 E101 Cobb
PSA 3 E102 Cobb
PSA 3 E103 Cobb
PSA 3 E105 Cobb
PSA 3 E106 Cobb

I don't think all of these cards exist in PSA 3 grade so this is only a hypothetical question. I am just curious about how these card compare to one another in terms of value and in terms of popularity.

I would rank them from most difficult to easiest as follows:

E105
E94
E103
E92
E101
E102
E98
E106
E95
E93
E90-1

Posted By: quan
i'd say the e103 is tougher than the e94, and the e106 is certainly scarcer than the e98, maybe even a few more spots up. the e95 is common, but due to the great pose and lithograph it's a popular card. anybody have or got a scan of an e92 nadja cobb? i'd like to see that one.

Posted By: Brian E.
Wes, this doesn't have anything to do with two VG Cobb Es ending today does it?

BTW: I would agree that E102s are just slightly more common than 101s but I disagree that E95s are more difficult than E93s. Lately, there have been more E93 Cobbs on ebay than E95s but over the summer the reverse was true.

Brian E.

A couple of these I don't have a guess because I cant remember seeing them for sale recently.

PSA 3 E90-1 Cobb 1300- 1000
PSA 3 E92 Cobb ? Would depend on the back
PSA 3 E93 Cobb 1400-1100
PSA 3 E94 Cobb 3150-2850
PSA 3 E95 Cobb 1500-1200
PSA 3 E98 Cobb 2250-1950
PSA 3 E101 Cobb ?
PSA 3 E102 Cobb 2900-2600
PSA 3 E103 Cobb ?
PSA 3 E105 Cobb ?
PSA 3 E106 Cobb ?

Posted By: Brian E.
I would guess that a VG slabbed 101 is worth $2500! Actually that's what the BVG 3 just closed at.

I suppose I'm happy with the 102 VG I picked up this summer! Probably not as scarce, but generally viewed as more valuable than the 101.

Brian E.

Posted By: quan
times they are a changin' brian...i would think the e102 was viewed as more desireable because of the 1908 dating. Now that it's been proven the set was probably issued sometime around mid 1910, the shine has been taken off somewhat. i had been looking for an e102 cobb for years believing it was his rookie card, but now i'd probably want an e92 croft or nadja because it's so damn tough.

Posted By: Jeff
In the last 5 years it seems that almost all of the e102 Cobb's I have seen have been very low condition(except for BCD,s) and a couple of others. I think it is a hard card to get in even vg. or better.

Posted By: Brian E.
Quan, I completely agree. What attracted me most to the 102 Cobb was the 1908 date, I don't consider PCs cards and I didn't like the then "1907" W555. Now it appears that several different issues (T206, several E's) can all be considered his rookie.

I wonder if the 101 will eventually overtake the 102 in value, any thoughts?

As for desiring an E92; I would gladly take a 92 or 94 over nearly all my Cobb cards.

Brian E.

Posted By: Wesley
The E101 Cobb that sold on ebay tonight was graded by Beckett. I think if the card were in a PSA holder, the price would have been more than $3200 easily. Very nice pickup for the winner.

Posted By: Brian E.
Many months went by this summer with no E93 Cobbs showing up on Ebay. One finally appeared, went for a pretty price and nearly a half dozen showed up in 2-3 months that followed.

I suspect we'll be seeing a few 101 Cobbs follow in the same path as the E93.

Brian E.

Posted By: quan
there's no documented dockman cobb...next one you see will be the first, and should go for big bucks. but then again it'll also be a fake or rebacked, since there's no dockman cobb.

edited to add i may be wrong, but looking at the pop report i don't think we'll be seeing a bunch of e101 cobbs start appearing anytime soon. the pop may not be an accurate indication of the total number of cards, but it's a good reflection of the scarcity.

Posted By: quan
not as many graded as the e102 wagner...3 throwing and 6 batting (this is psa). generally you'll see more batting pose than the throwing variation. sgc don't distinguish between throwing/batting but there's been 6 graded wagner e101s and 16 e102s.

i keep bringing up e101 and e102 because they're the most closely-linked together...the next kin would be the e92s but they're so skewed because of the difference in scarcity within each subset.

Posted By: Wesley
Even though some of the cards seem to have much higher populations, there is almost no comparison to populations for tobacco cards.

According to the PSA population report, PSA has graded 231 T205 Cobb cards, 729 T206 Red Cobb cards, 349 T206 bat on Cobb cards, 402 T206 bat off Cobb cards, and 287 T206 Green Cobb cards.

For some reason I have never even seen an olive one. Olive in general, within the set, is not as tough as blue, gold or purple, but with the Cobb...

Posted By: Richard
Ah, didn't realize that there is no Cobb Dockman. I was just trying to extrapolate based on relative scarcity of the sets. I guess 1500 would be a steal then

But then again, nothing gets by Quan...

Jeff - which sets have the inaccurate count due to the 5 regrades?
