Posted By: Scott Forrest
Recently acquired these, glued to Victorian album pages - shown at almost actual size. Each opens to show a scorecard. Any ideas on safely removing these? I've never fully soaked anything pre-1900.

Posted By: Scott Forrest
C'mon, someone must have some ideas about getting old litho cards out of Victorian albums?

I'll trade my secrets on how to get ink stains out of old baseballs...had one that some fool wrote "Babe Ruth" on about 80 years ago. Damn near impossible to get out, but now that baseball is beautiful and clean!

Posted By: Daniel Bretta
Scott, cool scorecards where did you find them? Are they scored? Sorry I can't help you on removing them. I'm still too afraid to try and remove my Scrapps Comiskey off of a scrapbook page.

As far as removing ink from old baseballs I don't know where I saw it, but there is a guy who will take team signed balls and remove all of the signatures except for the one you want to keep on the ball. He charges something like $50 per/name IIRC. Perhaps you could give him a run for his money.

Posted By: Scott Forrest
I was joking about removing ink from baseballs. My humor frequently zips right past Net54, but that just means I'm not funny! (hey, I laughed and my dog smiled).

Thanks for the responses though - I think they are okay to soak, just not sure. I'm certain this topic has come up before, but the ones with the knowledge just haven't seen this post. No big deal - we'll all learn something when they post and those cards have been glued in for 110 years, so they can wait.
