Posted By: BlackSoxFan
The same seller who Josh recently bought from has more willard's available. Josh's story aside, while the dealer has good feedback, he has some pretty customer unfriendly policies and seems to be out of touch ... It's pretty evident that if i purchase the three cards i want from him, that they will all be trimmed and that i'll have no recourse. So how rare are these cards? Also, what would be a reasonable price for cards from this issue that are probably trimmed.

Regards,
Black Sox Fan

- - - - - - - - -

I'm Smart Enough To Know, There Are A Lot Of People Who Know More Than I Know

BlackSoxFan.com
email me

Posted By: Al Crisafulli
Well, there you go. I bought the Jesse Haines - same seller, same bunch of cards, same mistake of not thoroughly reading the description.

Drag.

This is the drawback of doing a HOF type card set - a set I collect intensely, like 1938 Goudeys, I can spot an alteration pretty easily, because I'm so familiar with the set. Trying to do HOFers in as many different card types as possible, its easy to run into a set that you've got no familiarity with, and get stuck with an altered card.

Oh, well, my bad. Back to the thread topic. It's a really nice card nonetheless, and I'm glad to have it - if it truly is scarce, I'm sure it's worth bidding on. The problem is that I'm sure others made the same mistake I did when buying from the last lot, so it's tough to use those auctions as an assessment of "value".

-Al

I would hope the remainder of his Willard's will go a lot lower than the first ones did.

Tim

Posted By: Frank Evanov
PSA has responded to me about not grading my V100 Branch Rickey. Apparently the real V100's have the players' names in SCRIPT. My card has the name in block letters. So, I don't know if ICEKING is selling reprints or what! I have requested a refund.

Frank

Posted By: Paul
I have seen the Rickey before and his name does appear in block letters. This is very unusual for the Willards set, but that is the way the Rickey card was issued. I suppose it's possible that the Rickeys I've seen in the past were fake too, but I'd be willing to take that risk and take this card off your hands.

Posted By: Frank Evanov
Ice refuses a refund since it is past 14 days [it took 8 days to arrive from Canada anyway] and he feels that the auction clearly states the cards are cut from a sheet and the buyer should assume PSA won't grade them.

Frank
