Posted By: Tom Boblitt
Kabul....Dar Es Salaam.....Tegucigalpa.........and Waco.......GITMO might be in the rotation soon........

Actually, I think 2007 might be in Atlantic City or Cleveland again. Think those two are in the mix pretty frequently through 2009/2010. Think Anaheim was thrown back in for next year at last minute.......

Posted By: DJ
My vote is and has always been Hawaii or Las Vegas. Not really likely to be in Hawaii but it's amazing that the National has never touched down in Las Vegas and continues to appear in Cleveland which is the worst National every time it's held there. All great conventions appear in Vegas and seriously, who doesn't like Vegas in small doses? I would even take San Diego. I was in town for Comic-con and even though I don't like or collect comic books of any kinds, I spent a few hours there and seems like a great place to have a convention.

Doesn't Kit Young usually have something in February in Hawaii? Anyone ever been?

DJ
Posted By: William Brumbach
In addition to Vegas, does Atlanta or anything in Texas have the facilities for the National? I live a little less than an hour from AC and I think it is a terrible location. The old AC Convention Hall was right on the boardwalk and the location was perfect. Nothing like doing a show there and watching the floor show stroll through from the casinos. The new convention center location there is just terrible, I hate it. Nice place, bad spot.

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
sucked in the World Congress Center........downtown Atlanta. Show wasn't the best but the facilities are huge. Houston has a big facility as I'm sure Dallas does. Don't know why they're not in the mix anymore......politics, density of people and flights I guess........

Posted By: Scott Forrest
Just asking because I'm curious when it was in Atlanta - if prior to 1996 I can imagine the location would have been sh*t, but after the Olympic "remodeling" of downtown, it seems like it would have been a fantastic place for it.

Posted By: ockday
my 1st one ..I think it was 1988. I bought an unopened box of 1955 Bowman baseball from Mr. Mint.
I remember having a "pack attack" and opening the packs in the parking lot because I couldn't wait to get home.I remember not getting Mantle but getting a few hall of Famers like Kaline and Campy.
About 3/4 of the cards in each pack were in really rough shape because of the gum or from being bug infested. But each pack had one or two beautiful mint cards that were in the middle of the pack and so were not damaged. Funny ..I still have some of the crappy condition cards but none of the mint ones.

Alan

Posted By: warshawlaw
Add Abu Ghraib for accommodations and you've hit them all. Of course, I'd still prefer them to Cleveland

Las Vegas is way too easy and obvious a choice. Plus, the cheap bastards who run the show don't want to pay Vegas rates for the space.

Posted By: Scott Forrest
Well, all I can say is that if the National is ever in Atlanta again, I'll post info on how to ensure you have "fun" while visiting. A lot of people come to Atlanta and only do the tourist stuff (like Underground Atlanta, Buckhead) - most of the real fun is in other areas, all easily accesible.
