Posted By: leon
Here is a cut and pasted copy of the last post about the dinner:

So I called Shoeless Joes this morning to get a little more info. We have a reservation for 60 or so people on July 29th at 6:30pm. I think that will be enough room but will take another head count as we get closer. Probably a week or so before the National. We are set on the $18.99 buffet and I will probably add that gourmet sauce to the grilled chicken for .50 a person. See me for exceptions to the buffet. THERE WILL BE A CASH BAR. I have to have a minimum number for the gig in general. We will have part of the restaurant sectioned off for our group. It will be semi-private and only our group will be in that area, I am told. We will have wristbands to get into the buffet line and only those with a wristband will be admitted. There will be a 15% gratuity added too so after tax it will be about $25 a head plus your own drinks.........btw, Shoeless Joes is about 5-10 minutes from the convention center.....thanks for the help and input and will let ya'll know more later. moderator dude..

Shoeless Joes Sports Bar and Grill
10200 W.Higgins Rd Rosemont IL 60018 ph. 847-296-5760
http://www.shoelessjoesrosemont.com/joescontact.htm

NOW-
I am waiting on a call back from the manager but assume all is good. I need names- first and last (private email is ok if you want to) of whomever wants to attend, including everyone in your party. RSVP's will be a lock to get in and any others will probably be ok but not guaranteed. All I ask is that if you RSVP and then find you can't make it, let me know. I also need to know of any special requests for dinner. PLEASE try to just do the buffet as this big of a party would be impossible to do separate orders. EVERYONE that reads the board is welcome to come to this. Kids and wives are ok too but I need to know for the head count. It was fun the last few years and I am sure it will be this year also.....regards

edited to say I got a call back from the manager and we are good to go 7/18/09
Posted By: leon
You bring up a good point. There are 3 packages of different buffet's. I am completely open to changing from the more expensive one to a less expensive one. Of course you get less too. My thought was "hey, we're on vacation and the difference between decent and good is $5....so why not?" But if others vote for another package I don't really care and will change....we have about 5 days to D day for the non-cancel confirm....then it costs money to change..It's ok to change headcount by 5 or 10 until the last day but we need to plan as well as we can...at any rate here are the buffet packages....also, if it's real close I will leave it the way it is....regards

BATTER-UP $13.99
Stuffed Mushrooms
Toasted Ravioli
Italian Beef Sandwiches
Assorted Pizza
Mozzarella Sticks
Chicken Wings (Hot or Mild)

TASTE OF ITALY $16.99
Antipasto or Caesar Salad
Bruschetta
Backed Rigatoni or Pasta Vodka
Italian Sausage, Peppers & Potatoes
Chicken Vesuvio, Marsala or Francaise
Fresh Grilled Vegetables

**GRAND SLAM $18.99 *******(the one we are going with now)********
Field of Dreams Salad or Ty Cobb Salad
Italian Beef Sandwiches
BBQ Ribs
Char-grilled Boneless Breast of Chicken
"Cheezy" Smashed Potatoes
Fresh Grilled Vegetables

regards
Posted By: leon
Obviously not everyone that thought they could originally make it can. 25-30 folks, so far, is a nice managable number and fine for the setting...more or less is fine too....I just want to bump this thread once or twice more to be as accurate as possible .....thanks and pardon the intrusion again....

edited for grammar

Posted By: Michael Peich
Hey, Leon,

I have had serious back problems and didn't think I could attend the National this year. But, the symptoms are improved, and I am going to be there. Put me down for the dinner, and I vote for the Grand Slam, too. Can't wait to see everyone, and spend a little hard-earned. Cheers, Mike

Posted By: scott brockelman
i would still plan for 50, there will be late comers, friends, newbies, etc.

better to have a big 3/4 full room than a little packed room with no seating space. been there before.

Posted By: leon
I have spoken to the manager a few times. I think they were originally counting on a few more so the space should be adequate. I told him the # could go up too.....I think they will be ready for 50-60....I will let them know we want some elbow room....but..Ya' never know what you're gonna get till ya' get it.......regards

Posted By: leon
It is understandable that some folks won't know until the last minute if they can attend the dinner or not. That is expected and all are welcome until we are finished eating. Just let me know at the show or at the door of Shoeless Joes. We are planning on unforseen issues....regards
