Posted By: cmoking
Hopefully this is still on topic enough: I recently bought a set of the Original All-Stars From the Game of the Century. Its a 40 card set shwoing the players from the first all-star game back in 1933. Mine is numbered 7,385 out of 10,000 (whoopee!), it was printed in 1983 by Big League Collectibles. Its a fun and interesting set because the cards to look vintage - they are photos that seem to be touched up or colored in. As a collector of the 33/34 Goudeys and World Wide Gum sets, its cool to see the same players in this set, even if it was printed 50 years later. I've attached the photo below. What I would like to know is: are these cards a reprint of another set? are the photos from other cards? are these the first time these photos are represented in cards? any info would help.

Posted By: Brad Green

I can speak for the Lefty Grove cards from the set. The images on his 1982 and 1983 Big League cards were NOT used on any vintage baseball cards, but were used on a few of his cards produced in the last 30 years or so. I know, though, that the images on Lefty's cards were made from real pictures taken by a notable baseball photographer (someone like Conlon or Burke...).

I hope this helps...
