Posted By: Dave
At the July 16 game between the Northern League teams Kansas City T-Bones and the Schaumberg Flyers, the first two innings will be played by gamer fans on an X-Box playing MVP Baseball. This will be displayed on the jumbo-tron for the fans. There are contests in both cities to pick their best gamer for this.

The teams will enter the field and start real play at the third inning, with the score as it stands from the first two gamer innings.

Read about it here:

http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3181035

Those of us who grew up listening to the radio and cashing in pop bottles to get a few pennies to buy packs of baseball cards will probably see this as just so much foolishness. While those from the microwave, cell phone, instant gratification age will think it is cool.

X Box? Humbug! How many people who use them have ever laid down on the grass and tried to make out faces or shapes in the clouds? I guess you just work with what resources you have.

Texas Ted
Remembering when life was less complicated.
But I've also played a lot of Atari then Colecovision then Nintendo then Sega then Playstation, etc. So, it IS foolish, but kinda fun, too and instantly forgotten. I hope they make cards of the gamers, tho. You never know. In a hundred years...

--Chad

Speaking of Veeck, was it Baseball when he inserted a little person to bat and walk on 4 balls? Not really but that got the response at the time and we are still talking about it so you never know about this. I thnk it pretty cool. Kids today have so much instant gratification that any thing that draws them to a game is a good thing. Out

"I had the right to remain silent. I just didn't have the ability" Ron White
