To me it looks like there should be a little more card on the right side. The current bidding is over $400, I'd feel a lot better if the card was graded and looked more comaparable with other T206s I've seen. Some of the seller's other auctions are graded cards but not all. After taking a look at the SGC pop report, it's obvious AB Cobbs don't come around too often.

A previous thread mentioned "Frank Ward is back", Frank Ward appears to be the seller on this auction. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing since I don't recognize the name.

I think the card is authentic but trimmed. Thoughts anyone?

Posted By: Judge Dred
I have a few American Beauties and they are also a little thinner than the other T206 issues. From what I understand this is normal.

The following is an excerpt from the T206 Museum web site:

American Beauty cards were issued with both the 350 and 460 Series of T206s. In both cases the design is printed in green. They are somewhat uncommon, but are not considered rarities by most collectors. The 350 Series cards appear with two variations; one shows a frame around the edge of the card, the other does not. For whatever reason, the frameless variation is more often seen with those cards that were issued in both the 350 and 460 Series. The frameless variation also seems to be more difficult to obtain, but is not an extreme rarity. The 460 Series cards were only issued in the frameless variation, and are tougher to obtain than American Beauties from the 350 Series. It is important to note that American Beauties are a little narrower than other T206s; they are not trimmed. However, this is a normal condition as the American Beauty tobacco package was a bit smaller than the other brands.

http://www.t206museum.com/page/backsdis.html#AB

Posted By: Brian Engelhard
I did look on the T206 website and did find some other AB examples. To me the right side doesn't look straight when looking at the front. It's more difficult to judge from the back because the frame appears to be "tilted". The thought does pop in my head why the seller doesn't have it graded.

Posted By: Mark Tylicki
...that it's authentic. I noticed a couple other members bidding on this item so I figured it was legit. But, finding this post after the auction closing has got me a little worried. This one is replacing a tribute card I have of Cobb. I've been trying to pick up a few more back variations for the T205 and T206s in my set.

Mark

------------------------------
MY COLLECTION: http://www.rustywilly.com/MYCOLLECTION.htm

Posted By: Brian Weisner

Hi Guys,
Don't worry the card is real. In fact I sent Frank an email 3 weeks ago, trying to purchase it for his advertised price of 480.00. Unfortunately, Frank never returned my email and the card was placed on EBAY. The card is still listed on the site, so you can check the scans and see If you see any more ink. Be well Brian

Posted By: Bob Marquette
I don't think he gets his emails. I tried contacting him through the ebay item seller contact link and still nothing. I think that perhaps someone else is selling stuff for him and he is gone for good.

Posted By: Mark Tylicki
I am not an expert when it comes to this issue and I'm looking to the Net54 T206 experts for advice. I would like to learn a little more about this back in comparison to other T206s. Obviously, Mr. Ward is not responding to emails or telephone calls. Payment will be sent but I also want to be assured that I'm buying an UNTRIMMED card. Ink - fine. Wrinkles - no problem. I want an original, un-altered Cobb AB in my collection and I'll be thrilled. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. I would also like a call back from Jeff, Frank or whoever is driving this sale. A phone message has been left along with an email sent but like everyone else they've been unanswered. Thank you all - I really like this item and hope it's a true American Beauty!

Mark
