Posted By: <b>John</b><p>I believe there many less 350 series Planks than that of its 150 series counterpart. How many I don’t know. I think there may be a small premium but I’m not sure its all that much if it all any.<br /><br />The last few that have been offered publicly have been 350 subjects I believe.

Posted By: <b>scott brockelman</b><p>in response to a few questions above:<br /><br />at one time the 350 series back was unknown and not discovered until the early 1980's i believe. it was considered 10x's as rare as the 150 series even until the last few years, however as someone pointed out many of recent auction t206 planks have been 350 series.<br /><br />the reason being..................<br /><br />the 350 series are the very poor quality run, the blue is washed out and faded looking, the registration is poor. in short the well heeled collectors just dont' want to keep them and unload them.<br /><br />until just a few weeks ago i had 3 t206 planks and the difference in presentation was immense. all were slabbed VG3 by two different grading companies with equal amounts of wear but the 150 series card literally jumped out of the slab with the vivid blue background.<br /><br />so in short i would pay a premium for a 150 series plank sight unseen an know to expect a nicer presenting card. revisit the multi card scan and you can pick out the 150 series cards without even looking at the back.<br /><br />scott

Posted By: <b>John</b><p>You’re right Sportscardsplus auctioned a PSA 3 plank 5yrs ago that looked amazing and it was a 150 series. I wish I had won the lot. In fact the PSA 3 Plank above is one you offered at one time. I had noticed that many 350 series Planks look rough compared to 150’s. <br /><br />So is it a possibility that the plate did in fact break? Could a worn down plate cause bad printing and out of focus cards? Are we looking at a visual record of the decline of a printing plate? Could this be the reason there are so few Planks?<br />

Man what I wouldn’t give for a time machine, no chance of that price today. Congrats truly one of the best Planks I have seen still holding out for a nice on here. Kudos.<br /><br />Any chance of you sending me a scan in your free time, I lost my hard drve a few yrs back and lost the picture, now all I have is the catolog shot which is tiny, I always wondered why they didn't make that card a highlighted page because the card really rocks.

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>For a bit more clarification- the Plank I sold last October, graded SGC-50 and pictured at the right of the top row in John's photo gallery, was a series 350 but in fact had a very rich deep blue color. However, when I looked at it with a loupe it also had a very strong dot matrix pattern, more so than some others I've seen. I remember when I first looked at it that concerned me, but it was of course genuine. But with the variation in color and dot matrix, is it possible that two different plates were in fact used for the front?

Posted By: <b>scott brockelman</b><p>barry,<br /><br />i have louped several as well and the patterns match on both series, for some reason all 350 series cards have a bit of a different color hue and are much less vivid than 150 series cards. i am speaking of the entire set. i once bought a group of about 500 t206's all original to the owner and he had mulitple dupes they were in a 15 pocket page album and you could tell the 150's and 350's apart from the front, most were also sovereign's so it is not only sweet cap or piedmont. i would suggest that either the press they were using the plates on had become worn or faulty and was not getting the proper pressure to leave a nice crisp print and not fully inked along with the poor registration.<br /><br />???<br /><br />scott
