Posted By: <b>vetekbob</b><p>I realize I am still wet behind the ears when it comes to 206 as I am still learning but I saw this listing and took a look. I can only guess that its not too often that you see a full set of raw 206 being offered on ebay, I would think that one might do better breaking up the set in smaller lots as we all have seen on ebay before. I took a look at the sellers feedback and it seems that he deals mainly in coins and comics. What hit me with a red flag is that his coin auctions have been private but he makes it a point to post follow up replys to feedback in these with the final price realized on the coin auctions. As I continued perusing the feedback in regards to the comic listings, it seems he has a bad habit of over stating condition and or leaving out pertinent information to the potential bidders. Another red flag to me was the fact that it appears that while he doesnt go out of his way to be clear and concise in items listed, he does go out of his way to try and get unhappy winning bidders to mutally retract feedback so as to not mess up his PRECIOUS feedback rating. Giving the benifit of a doubt as to the cards actually being in the condition stated, whose to say that some of the cards arent reprints? To me this listing is a big crap shoot and I certainly wouldnt want to lay out that kind of money with a seller who deals in coins and comics for the most part. I would hate to see someone get taken as there are just too many unknowns here.<br />Robert<br><br>basicgreatguy@hotmail.com

Posted By: <b>Zach</b><p>Ya I agree with Scott..having an ungraded set is not unheard of and there are plenty of those on ebay right now from the 60's..why not question them...I think the seller is legit and the cards all look legit as well.<br /><br />

Heck, anytime you buy raw T206 cards there are all the associated risks. When you buy 500+ at the same time, it's quite likely there is something wrong with at least a few of them that would make them ungradeable. I'd never buy ungraded cards for that price without having an opportunity to thoroughly review each one -- and even then it's too much money for my poor little heart to take without the SGC stamp of approval. That said, I don't really see any warning signs that would keep me away in terms of auction representations or the character of the seller.

All I was stating was in looking at his feedback he has been guilty more than just a few times of overstating condition of several items he has sold and add to that the way he is so beligerant in his replys to what appear to be genuine customer concerns raised red flags to me. From my own personal perspective, even if the ungraded cards are as exactly as he states, I am not sure I personally would bid with someone who goes about customer service the way he appears to with the personal attacks he makes to any unhappy customer not to mention the issue of the private auction listings he does. I was just trying to make the point that given the generality of his description of the lot and the lack of detailed scans such as it is, in my mind from a buyer perspective it did raise some concerns to me. That is a lot of money to lay down to someone who doesnt appear to deal in vintage baseball cards regularly. Some disagree with me on there being no real apparent concerns as a buyer and that is fine <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14> <br><br>basicgreatguy@hotmail.com

If I could see them first hand,it would be easy to determine.Do most reputable sellers demand payment within 24 hours of auction closing? I would want to pick these up in person if I was the winning bidder.At the end of the bidding,I would already be in his hometown.
