Posted By: Ben
I was doing a few updates on Julie's website today, and came across a new post in her guestbook. It reads as follows:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
First Name : Jackass
URL :
Comments : I hate the fact that you are soliciting donations for Ben. I think Ben is a LIAR, and you both should be ashamed. F YOU BOTH!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hate to think that someone would suspect that I would lie about having my collection stolen. I mean, having my collection stolen was painful enough, but for someone to make a wild allegation of this sort, on JULIE'S website, makes it that much worse.

Anyways, I would really like to speak to whomever made this post, so if you are reading this, please contact me at fisherboy7@hotmail.com. And if you are too cowardly to do so, you should be ashamed of yourself for making such a horrible accusation.

here's a link to the guestbook so you can see for yourself: http://us.1.p5.webhosting.yahoo.com/gb/view?member=julie_vognar

Posted By: David Vargha
I think the poster's name says it all. You will always have stupid people saying stuff like that. I wouldn't worry about anonymous flames thrown by people on message boards. Only worry if people who carry weight in the hobby say things like that.

DavidVargha@hotmail.com

Posted By: Ben
With some help from Brian M. (thanks man), I found a way to delete that post. Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but what Mark said was true....the support I have had from people here all along vastly outweighs something like this.

Still, if the person who posted that could email me I would really like to have a few words with him.

Posted By: Judge Dred
Ben,

I doubt that the person would email you unless they did so anonymously and from a difficult to trace account (hotmail, etc). You know what they say, what goes around comes around. That person will have their day. It's good to see you're back in the game!

Fred

Posted By: davidcycleback
The guestbook entry is essentially stupid in the first place. As I recall, there were no donations gathered for Ben. This was because Ben specifically asked Julie not to solicit for donations on his behalf.

Posted By: leon
I had the same thing happen to me from my website guestbook. I was told about it by a board member and didn't even know it was there. I have since made it where I have to approve guest comments before they post. Today I had one I had to approve and it was the same crap so I just deleted it before it posted. Stupid people in the world...I don't take their **it personally. regards

edited for typo

Posted By: Dan Koteles
the only people who would believe in this tale , would also have an attention deficiency syndrome such as this 12 year old. Anyone with common decency would never
reply as so.

This fool is just trying to kick up something for nothing. He most likely just put his G.I.Joe away and was tucked into bed.

Hope your collection is starting to get strong again ,I will send something else down the road whan I get another collection of sorts.

Take Care
Posted By: Julie
Ben, don't you have the same sort of thing in place that Leon has? You have to approve the guestbook signing before it goes in?
David Rudd, actuaslly Keith suggested a bunch of us send cards for Ben and 21 cards have been sent. I didn't think it would work, but it did!

Posted By: davidcycleback
The crux is that Ben should not be worrying about the opinion from a person who signs himself in as "Jackass." A rule of thumb is to not worry about about the guestbook entries of people who sign themselves in a "The Boogerman," "I.P. Nightly," "Spice Girls Rule!" and "Jackass."

Posted By: Brian McQueen

Geocities has a setting on their backend that allows you to approve posts to your guestbook before they go up on the site. Unfortunately this was not enabled on your site when this individual made that post. It is still possible to remove unwanted posts which is what we succeeded in doing earlier. However, I would go head and activate the setting that requires all posts to be approved by yourself before being allowed on the site in order to prevent this from happening again. Hope this helps....
