Posted By: TJ Schwartz
I just acquired a complete [no Honus, but Plank and Magie!] T-206 set! PSA has it all now. The Plank is a PSA 4. The Magie is a PSA 1. It has a great 3-4ish front, but paper loss on the back, causing the 1. They will all be soon offered on ebay over 6 months. My user ID is tjschwartzsports. Now's your chance as they ALL are there. Biggest deal of my life!

TJS

Posted By: TJ Schwartz
The set has been in the hands of a long time collector for 20 years. He is a famous show biz guy that wants to remain anonymous. We have it dubbed it "The Mr. X Collection". PSA has slabbed the Plank and Magie with that on the holder! When they hit eBay, they will be listed like this example: 'Mr. X Collection 1909-11 T-206 Ty Cobb PSA 4' . That way, all one has to do is search Mr. X or my user ID. SCD will be doing a write-up interview with me soon and PSA will have something from Joe Orlando on its site as well along with some scans.

Sale should commence in a month or so. Many have emailed me, asking to purchase cards outright. Appreciate that, but none will ne sold privately. I want to let all the serious collectors have a shot.

There is a lot more too. Many high end '33 Goudeys. Just received some grades on them with many 7's, including Goslin, Cronin and Lyons. T-202's too. Some '49 Bowmans include a PSA 5 Paige and a PSA 8 Musial. Feel free to call about grades. 818-760-3800 M-F 11-7 PST.

Thanks for the kind words!

Scans of the 2 biggies are available upon request. TJS

Posted By: TJ Schwartz
Rob: No Grandmas here. He KNEW exactly what he had. My nostrils are flaming from paying through them!

The Doyle is most definitely a variation and is probably more rare than the Honus. In fact, PSA has graded 24 Honus and 28 Planks along with 50 Magies and only 7 Doyles!

Many have asked, and I do have the Demmit and O'Hara St. Louis variations along with the Elberfeld Washington Portrait and the Nodgrass [Snodgrass] . She claimed he was in the Hall of Fame (not even close!), but I didn't realize that he had a baseball card (he also has a M116 card as well).

We will be sending scans out of Fridays and Mondays, the 2 days my tech guy works. Email tonight or Friday and you will get them!

NO one will EVER know who Mr. X is! I do enjoy the guessing though, but have sworn not to devulge it.

Been a store owner for 17 years now, specializing in Vintage cards and autos. Parting with it was a no-brainer to me. Business is business unless it falls into one of the following catagories. My personal collection consists of:

1. Sports boigraphies and books signed by the guy the book is about. I have over 400, mostly deceased HOF'ers and famous Americans like Paige, Dean, Mathewson, Ruth, Jackie, Honus, and more. Just won the PT Barnum signed 1888 Bio in Mastro, Wednesday night.

2. Celebrity single signed baseballs. Have over 500. Many ridiculously tough ones like Spencer Tracy, Errol Flynn, Lucille Ball, Reagon, Nixon, the ONLY Stevie Wonder signed ball, the ONLY Bob Dylan signed ball, etc. Was a TV writer in another life and started this 20 years ago.

3. Mickey Mantle. Have over 300 signed items, many one of a kinders, Most attained in person. Grew up 3 blocks from Yankee Stadium and was there when Roger hit #61.Have at least one of every card that matters.

4. 500 HR club single signed balls, jerseys, and bats. Have all the balls, most bats and some jerseys. They are really tough!

5. Celebrity signed photos. Who DON'T I have is the question. Have over 1000, with 50% deceased.

6. Anything cool Yankee stuff.

If anyone out there has something on the list, feel free to contact me. TJS

Posted By: leon
The questions asking if this should be in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread are ok to ask. The fact this is not a T210 someone is looking for and the fact there is some story around it, to me, means that it is more than just someone (like me) selling a few cards. This is the fine line moderator dudes have to walk. It stays here and most other offers to buy sell or trade will be asked to be put in the correct section or deleted. Nuff said......regards

Posted By: T206Collector
What if one of Mr. X's cards was a Harris Collection card? Would it then be the Mr. Harris X Collection? Or the Mr. X Harris Collection?

I hope SGC never starts tagging cards with the name of the collector who owned them once upon a time, unless everyone gets their name associated with it. A few of my T206 cards have names stamped on the back, I suspect, of the previous owner. I think they had the right idea. I am going to go home tonight and start stamping my name on all my cards. Then I am going to sell them all (for much less than I paid for them, obviously) and buy new ones to stamp my name on. This process will continue until I go broke or until every T206 card has my name on it.

Or something like that.

Posted By: TJ Schwartz
Harris: Very funny indeed, my friend. Of course, PSA only does this on very rare or extremely high graded cards when asked. Only the Magie and Plank have received the Mr. X name. The rest will not.

Sent scans out today to those that asked. Will continue if asked. Received more grades:

1932 US Caramel Cronin PSA 8!
1916 Collins McCarthy Hap Felsch PSA 5 [only one other ever graded, none higher!]
1925 A. Boguslavsky ltd. #50 Baseball Sports Records PSA 5

Tasty stuff. TJS

Posted By: TJ Schwartz
I had mentioned that Mr. X had other high end, pre-war cards and sets. I have acquired them as well and will be selling them either direct or on eBay. The T set will ONLY sell on eBay. Was just reporting on some rarities that were graded. I'm still going through his stuff. Could take months to buy it all, but I'm having fun, believe me!

I won't mention all the high grade 50's sets he has as I know this is a pre-was site, but there are plenty. Sent out many scans of Plank and Magie and will continue to do so when asked. Can only get it done on Monday or Fridays, but all who ask will receive them. TJS
