Posted By: Colt McClelland
I am sure this has been discussed before, so my apologizes for covering old ground. But, as someone new to OJ's - could someone tell me how much variance is to be expected on the size. I have several raw OJ's in my possession, and the size variance is much more than I am used to with other pre-war issues I've handled, particularly top to bottom. A few of them have clearly been trimmed (missing border or part of the caption). However, many others do not appear to me to be trimmed, just inconsistent on the size. In fact, no two of these cards seem to be identical in size. Any feedback is apprectiated. Thanks.

Posted By: Scott Jeter
To my knowledge there were two different sizes of OJ's issued in 1887, N172 (which is the larger, sepia colored photo) and the N175 which are similiar but smaller. The N175's were found in the Gypsy Queen cigarette packs. I am by no means an expert so I hope this helps.

Scott

Posted By: Jay Miller
The cards were hand cut and exhibit quite a bit of variation in size as you have already discovered. As a general observation, with plenty of exceptions, 1888 cards tend to be a little smaller, 1889/90 cards tend to be a little larger and 1887 cards show the most variation and are really all over the board.

Posted By: Cap
Nice Julie!

I'm a T205-T207 kind of a guy and will someday graduate to the OJ's. How are the grading card companies toward miscut OJ's, like the ones Julie has?

Thanks! Helpful Thread.

Cap

Well, I quit my job so I could work alone, Then I changed my name to Sherlock Holmes- Bob Dylan.
