Posted By: Bryan Long
Just thought I would ask. Doesn't quite measure up. I bought the card with another and the scans don't quite match. Can you tell by the scan if it is trimmed?

Posted By: Julie
.........nobody ever thinks about someone making a card look less raggedy by rounding the corners evenly.

Posted By: Josh K.
I dont know if it means it was trimmed or not, but the right side looks like in goes in toward the middle (maybe b/c s/o tried to hand cut it and didnt do a good job).

Posted By: warshawlaw
I have a number of cards with this sort of side indentation from banding. When you run the rubber band up and down a card stack repeatedly, it wears across the centers of the sides like this. My daughter's candyland cards got to be like this because she dug the game when she was 3-4 and we played it a lot. They are about the same thickness as T206 cards.

Posted By: Bryan Long
it was the length that gave me troubles. It measures short that the rest of my t206 cards. It seems as though the bottom border was gone a little. I wasn't sure if it would be caused by just over time wear or it at one point it could have been trimmed. I would say 1/16 of an inch is missing from the bottom.

Posted By: robert a
Hey brian.
Flip it over and look around the edges for discoloring on the bottom and top. A card with wear like this one should be discolored evenly. If one edge is whiter, it's probably trimmed.
This card doesn't look trimmed to me.
I have tons of t206 that are shorter than others, but not trimmed.
robert a

Posted By: T206Collector
quite a bit, not to so sound like Joe Orlando. I have tons of crappy T206 cards that no one ever would have trimmed and they don't all measure the same size. It's best to look for even wear on each edge and uneven cuts. Obviously, people usually trim baseball cards to make round corners sharp and square. This would only really be beneficial if the card would appear mint after the trim job. Except for the people that used to have fun cutting up T206 cards back in the early 1900's for whatever reason, you don't see too many trimmed T206 cards that people aren't trying to sneak into PSA/SGC 6 or higher holders. In fact, I try to stay away from T206 cards that are in better than PSA/SGC 6 condition -- yes, price is one reason, but I just don't trust that such cards haven't been altered over time.

Your Tinker was most likely just loved by someone who liked to play with his baseball card collection over a period of several years. He also probably kept them in a stack with a rubber band around them. I highly doubt anyone would have any interest in shaving an edge off of it. There is no good reason to.

Posted By: robert a.
People use to trim t206s and other issues for many interesting reasons besides getting some grade at psa.
Many trimmed them to fit them in a frame, wallet, or collection book.
But, mostly for practical reasons (even though we don't consider it practical behavior) or cosmetic reasons (they didn't like the border) rather than "money" issues.
robert

edited cuz I can't spell
