Posted By: Shane
i decided to test my theory and emailed her/him in regards to trading cards. They asked if i had any jordan rookies , gretzkys, or bobby orr rookies they could trade for in bulk. Told me they had any T206 card I needed, including a bunch of Cobbs that they easily get 300-500 for on ebay.

So i'm pretty sure it's the same person

Posted By: Judge Dred
Interestingly enough the seller of for the item in the link provided in the initial post (kelseysattic2005) has 2 positive feedbacks. One of those feedbacks came from westtexastreasures who also has two positive feedbacks. Both kelseysattic2005 and westtexastreasures have been ebay members since 19FEB05. What a coincidence.

Posted By: Dave
Several of his cards sold tonight, for much less than if authentic, but still a lot of $.

All the ones I looked at had this statement:

this card is on consignment so i cannot give u any history on this card but very nice scans of front and back.....

I needed some of these but wasn't tempted. If these card were legit, they would bring 4x if graded.

Posted By: Arthur
There has been a huge increase in these ripoff artists....Most of them note something like "per ebay rules, as this item hasn't been authenticated it is being sold as is"

I did some searching and could find no mention that EBAY REQUIRES sellers of material to sell it as a REPRINT if it has not been authenticated.....

These scumbags are really ruining things for collectors such as myself, collectors of low-grade unauthenticated vintage material who want authentic cards but don't want to pay thru the nose for a graded copy......At least you'ld think the sellers would be a bit more creative than "I just fond a box of 1933 Lou Gehrig Goudy's that all have identical wear in an old shoebox....They sure look old and worn, ....I'm not sure of the origins of the card so per Ebay rules I'm selling as is..."

Oh well, enough of my bitching...

Posted By: Shane
Since i'm laid off and have no life I decided to mess with this person since it appears they are ripping a lot of people off. I emailed her/him with a potential trade on reproduced cards. They IM'd me on yahoo with some of the following statements:

hyw52blues (4:05:08 PM): with aol u can have all the buyer accounts u want but to sale u need to open up a $50.00 checking account with a debit card

hyw52blues (4:13:21 PM): what kind of vintage cards or reprints that will bring big bucks u got to trade

hyw52blues (4:27:04 PM): i can pick them up for $4.00 a piece
hyw52blues (4:27:37 PM): but the gretzy, and orr are hard to get not marked
hyw52blues (4:28:09 PM): i have a couple canadanians who buy all my hockey cards

hyw52blues (4:21:58 PM): i have a lot of T206 reproductions
hyw52blues (4:22:21 PM): i have all the ty cobb cards with different backs
hyw52blues (4:23:37 PM): they will bring 300.00 to 500.00 on ebay

I got ripped off pretty bad when the kimpossible name was in use with no refund, so I just like to warn others of this person.

Posted By: Bob Marquette
It's funny that "My grandfather gave these to me" and "I found them in an old desk/trunk" has given way to "I am selling these as reprints because they are not graded, per Ebay rules."
The miscreants...

Posted By: David Smith
the line was they bought the cards at an estate sale.

This person is a professional thief and I would hate to see what their job is in real life or what scams they have pulled in the past. I would imagine falling in parking lots or back and neck pain from car accidents is right up their alley.....

Posted By: Shane
well she/he did ask if i could find some non-marked reprints of hof'ers for her and did mention that she had tons of t206s that no one would know were reproductions, so i'd take that as the person is a liar and a fraud.

Posted By: Judge Dred
Ok, who's going to fly to CMH and help lynch this person. I'm in... anyone else want to join the possee?

The unfortunate part about this is that regardless of how many times this person is thrown out of ebay they will continue to create new IDs and open up shop again. It would take a court order (as one brought against a few unsavory individuals in Phoenix a few years back) to keep them "legally" out of the internet auction business.

I hate to say this but to expect ebay to control access of these types of people would be beyond what they are supposed to do. On the other hand it would be nice to see them "boot" these a-holes a little quicker after learning who they are and what it is that they are doing.
