Too bad it never got printed!

I have often wondered why some HOF's had "portrait" AND "action" cards in the T206 set... while others had ONLY a portrait... while others had ONLY an action shot???

Maybe HOF's like Eddie Collins and Ed Walsh and Jimmy Collins (who had only portrait cards) were supposed to have ACTION shots in the 460-570 series... but for some reason the series never got printed???

Maybe HOF's like Zack Wheat and others would have finally gotten their "portrait" cards taken for the 460-570 set??

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
In one of the articles that Keith Olbermann wrote regarding T206s, he mentions how someone walked into a NY cardshow with this Collins batting pose proof. I believe in the early 70s or early 80s.

Posted By: davidcycleback
I beleive a guy went to a card show with a bunch of them. Paper stock, many have the player's name handwritten rather than printed on the front, most to all with the little crosses ... The T3 proofs you will see came to the hobby under similar if not the same circumstances.

Posted By: Paul
I believe it's listed in Lemke's guide. I saw a color picture of it in an auction catalog years back. It is truly awesome. I believe it came into the hobby at the same time as a bunch of other T206 proofs, but this was the only new pose, or at least the only new pose of a HOFer.
