Posted By: David Seaborn
Well,

I've finally had good luck roll my way. I acquired some T206's with paper attached to the back. For many of the cards the paper attached to the back flakes right off quite easily. One of the cards was a Broadleaf. As I flaked away the paper I was shocked when I saw the 460. Just thought I'd share it with the board...

Posted By: barrysloate
That was lot 254 in the Hunt auction. I was looking at that picture and wondering if it was a 460. But from the picture you couldn't tell if the card had paper attached or if the back was missing. That's the advantage of viewing in person.

Posted By: Hal Lewis
While your luck is at a high point,,,

maybe you can peel the paper off the FRONT of the card and see if Ty Cobb or Honus Wagner is hiding under Gabby!!!

Posted By: David Seaborn
Thanks Hal but I don't think I'll push it. When I saw that 460 I felt like a little kid again. I only wish something like this happened more often instead of once every couple years!

Posted By: Hal Lewis
I haven't a "wax pack" in about 20 years...

but I know the feeling and would love to experience that "great find" again!

Maybe I should buy some of those old GAI slabbed wax packs and try my luck.

Posted By: David Seaborn
BTW- Here's an Uzit from the same grouping if anybody cares. It had less paper attached and it had actual paper loss on the back (unlike the Broadleaf), but still cleaned up nicely.

Posted By: David Seaborn
Hey Dan, good to hear from you...were you up there?

I did get the group for a good price, but the bargains were few and far in between there. I really had to hunt and get lucky (Broadleaf 460) to get anything for a good price.

Posted By: Art M.
Nice pick up!
I had contacted the Hunt auctions last week and was told the Broad Leaf card was Street, catching. I knew then it was a BL460 back but from the picture it looked like paper "loss" on the back, not paper attached!
The Uzit player is Wiltse and the lot also included 2 Hindu cards.

Posted By: David Seaborn
Dan,

The Hindus were all brown (that would have been too lucky). They are Ames (throwing), Ames (portrait), Bergen (batting), Coles, Revelle, and two Overall portraits.
