Posted By: Shane
Well, first i'll intro myself. I'm Shane, 26 from Ohio. I just started collecting a few months ago when I obtained my first T206. I'm up to about 56 now and have gained a few more pre- WWII cards along the way, including a 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig and a Sport kings Ty Cobb.

Now, other than ebay, where are good places to purchase T206 commons at decent prices? I'm a poor criminal justice student and as of today I've been ripped off on ebay of over 500.00 in fake T206s i've bought.

Any steering in the right direction would be great.

Posted By: Joe P.
Shane, that's a nice start.
It took me a bit longer to reach those numbers.
Coming here tells me that you're heading in the right direction.
You can never learn enough about the most popular set ever since 1909, I'm still learning.

First, you go to the top of the topic page of this forum, and you look for that Search Posts link. ... click on it, and enter T206.
When you enter that, every post about the T206, the good as well as some of the evil doings attempted by maggots, ... will be yours to read.

Then you have the VBC Buy/Sell/Trade Index.
There you might find a few things that you can add to your collection.
The offerings of the cards, sets and memorabilia might vary in prices, but it all depends on whether it's a high end article or affordable ones that might add to ones collection.
The best part is that the players are honorable.

The bottom line is this.
The more you read.
The more you see.
The more you handle cards.
The more experience you'll have in detecting a problem card.
The best can be fooled.
The idea is to minumize the chances.

I also buy from eBay, but the above helps.

Whether you are a collector, or speculator:
I wish you Luck, and welcome aboard!

Joe P.
