Posted By: Rob
Sorry about screwing up my first attempt at this post!

Hi All,

This cap was purchased by me sometime around 1983 at a flea market in Momence, Illinois. I can't remember what I paid for the cap, but it wasn't much. I've only seen one other like it available for sale (at auction about 6 years ago), but I can't recall which auction house handled it. It was billed in the auction as "one of the oldest known adult size baseball caps". The one in the auction just said "BASE BALL" on the band where this one says "CAPTAIN". I'd love to hear if anyone knows anything about this cap. It's definitly an adult size, and is in pretty good shape with the exception of the split leather band on the front (which is still in one piece, but split). Thanks for your help!

[img=]

[img=]

[img=]
Posted By: davidcycleback
but that thing's so unusual, it would seem unlikely that it's a replica-- unless it made for a Broadway review. If someone in 1960 was going to make replica old baseball cap it would look nothing like that.

Old college religous school teams, and likely women's teams, sometimes wore unusal caps.
