Posted By: Hal Lewis
I am going to do this over the next several months, and I am going to use the Hall of Fame induction dates as the factor to determine who is up for voting and in what order.

In other words, the FIRST players elected into the Baseball HOF were Ruth, Johnson, Mathewson, Wagner and Cobb.

SO..... I would like for EVERYONE to please VOTE on which of these players' cards are your FAVORITE and BEST LOOKING cards.

NOT which would you like to own (because of their value)...

but which cards just have the best "EYE APPEAL."

**(So "FAVORITE" = Best looking, coolest, neatest)

THANKS FOR VOTING!!!!

1) What is your FAVORITE card of BABE RUTH?

2) What is your FAVORITE card of TY COBB?

3) What is your FAVORITE card of HONUS WAGNER?

4) What is your FAVORITE card of CHRISTY MATHEWSON?

5) What is your FAVORITE card of WALTER JOHNSON?

Posted By: Paul
Ruth -- E121 "photo montage". (If anyone has the E126, I'd like to see a scan. I think it's a little different).

Cobb -- T227, with T3 close behind.

Wagner -- M110 Sporting Life cabinet, with the E135 close behind.

Mathewson -- T205, with the E92 close behind.

Johnson -- Cracker Jack.

Honorable Mention -- Cy Young. I once heard that he would have been a first ballot HOFer, but there were two categories for voters -- pre1900 and post1900. His votes were split between the two categories, but added together were enough for election. Anyhow, if he was included, I would have voted for his E94 violet card, though his T205 and his T206 with glove are both very nice.

Paul

Posted By: Gilbert Maines
And this selection can't be the best, why Wagner looks like his mother just dressed him up in a suit, combed his hair and he is thinking "snap the picture already, I want to rip these clothes off and go outside and play ball"!

And worse - Ruth appears to be searching for a hot dog vendor, Matty is doing his limp wrist imitation, and the Big Train looks like Robin Williams.

Only Cobb has a pose which approximates his furiousity.

That is: in my humble opinion.

But I can't help...seconding the opinion that the E107 Wagner fails to present his size, ruggedness, power, or faciility of motion--and it even makes him look uglier than he is (now if he were as simply handsome as Johnson, nobody would complain, probably).
