Posted By: Robert Edward Auctions
Dear Network 54, In preparing for an office move we have discovered a small quantity of our June 1995 auction catalogs and a full case of our June 1997 catalogs. We also have quantities of the May 2004 catalog. If any collectors would have interest in having our old auction catalogs for reference, we are happy to make these available at no charge. Please email us at catalogs@robertedwardauctions.com with your name, address, and catalog request (one, two, or three catalogs). We'll take care of the postage. If there are any collectors out there who are not on our mailing list and who would like to receive complimentary copies of all future auctions, please go to our website, click "free catalog," and provide your address information. Happy New Year!

Sincerely, Robert Edward Auctions

www.RobertEdwardAuctions.com
Posted By: Howard W. Rosenberg
Hal,

Thanks for thinking of me during such an auspicious time (college bowl season, of course). I have NOT seen either catalog and, of course, have put in a request. Robert Lifson of Robert Edward Auctions was the very first person to help me on my trek. The only other catalogs I am aware, from Sothebys or Mastro, that I haven't seen or learned the 19th-century contents of are:

September 2000 MastroWest
August 2001 Mastro
1994 Sotheby's
Posted By: David Vargha
Thanks REA! I asked for the prices realized on the two older catalogues and they were able to get me the prices for the 6/97 auction. It was an extremely generous offer on their part and postage was on their dime as well.

DavidVargha@hotmail.com

Posted By: John Basilone

Howard,

I thought I sent you the August 2001 Mastro & Sept 2000 MastroWest in the pile of catalogs that I had sent you for research last month. Also, there was a 1996 Mastro (not Mastro & Steinbach) that sold on eBay a day or two ago. I do not own it...so you can add it to that to your list.

I missed bidding on it as it would of completed my run.

John Basilone

Posted By: Howard W. Rosenberg
With John Basilone's help, I was able to see apparently all but a few of the Mastro catalogs I hadn't seen. Additionally, I just received the August 2001 one and someone thumbed through a September 2000 one, a 1994 Sothebys and a 1996 Robert Edward Auctions.

Also, I just sent my updated have-seen Mastro catalog list to someone who thinks he has a pretty full run to see what gaps are left (beyond a possible 1996 one that John just mentioned).

Beyond Sothebys, Mastro and Robert Edward Auctions, I've hardly seen anything else and would be glad to learn of ones that have unusual 19th-century content. If you have some catalogs from other dealers, and want to thumb through them, feel free to let me know what you have. In looking at them (unless you'd be willing to let me borrow them), you can skip over tobacco cards; generic items with baseball figures such as lanterns and clocks; and scorecards with dull cover designs.

Posted By: Jeff
I also received my catalogs today. Priority mail as well but one of mine didn't fare to well as the priority envelope was stuck to the June 10 1995 catalog.

And you should have seen the package. Both ends were ripped open. Me thinks someone at the post office might have took a peek to see what was in it.

Anyway a big Thank You to Robert Edward Auctions.
I will be enjoying these.

Jeff

Posted By: jay behrens
I got mine today. Holy crud, I'm amazed these are in as nice a condition as they are. My priority enevolpe arrived looking like it had been dragged behind the postal vehicle all the way from the REA offices. They also included the final prices realized with a couple of them which is really nice of them. I didn't event hink of asking for them.

A big thanks to all the great people at REA.

Jay Behrens

Wow upside down is Mom. Mom upside down is what dad wants to see.

Posted By: jay behrens
Tom, if it was UPS, they would have taken the catalogues and all I would have gotten was battered envelope. I'll still take USPS over UPS an day of the week. At least you get item and not an empty box.

Jay

Wow upside down is Mom. Mom upside down is what dad wants to see.

Posted By: Julie
the thick proiority mail envelope that contained my 3 catalogues (THANK YOU!) was RIPPED open, with no attempt to disguise the fact. One of the covers was stuck to the first page--I assume because the weather has been so awful, and the thing was open outside. Nothing was missing; there were several ads and a "prices realiZed" sheet right near the rip, but they were fine.

Anyway, I called the P.O. to complain. The only cards I've gotten lately came UPS, but I am expecting one today or tomorrow USPS. Hope it's O.K. Oh--this is the SECOND time in 2 weeks this happened with a catalougue--it was another big one,
rippped open in excactly the same way.

Just after Christmas, I got a small package, priority mail, which came from Brooklyn in 2 days, no problem! It's almost as if someone were suspicious of large catalogues...

Posted By: Andy Baran
The old RE Auction Catalogs are simply awesome. My biggest impression from the Catalogs is that although many of these items have changed hands since the auction, either privately or through later auctions, many of the amazing items have not seen the light of day since these auctions. There have to be MANY impressive vintage collections out there that no one on this board is aware of. Makes me hopefull that some of these items will surface again in the future.
