Posted By: <b>Julie</b><p>Our Christmas tree is 1 1/2 feet tall, is a (very nice smelling!)living rosemary bush, and ALL THE CHRISTMAS TREES WERE GONE TODAY. We usually get one on Christmas eve, and keep it up till the middle of January. There are usually SO MANY Christmas trees for sale, they never sell out. Oh, it cost 16.00! <br /><br />I like Christmas trees! <img src="/images/sad.gif" height=14 width=14><br /><br />It is NOT necessary to kill a tree to get a Christmas tree! All you have to do it cut the top off.

Posted By: <b>Dave</b><p>Julie, <br /><br />Our family has always put up the tree Christmas eve, too. We cut ours from a tree farm a week ago; it has been sitting in water outside since then. It was $40, as every tree is regardless of size. The choices were limited this year, ours is only 7 ft tall, instead of the usual 8 1/2 ft. But, it is perfectally shaped, as it has been trimmed and pruned at the farm.<br /><br />There are advantages to living in the northwest, in tree country.<br /><br /><br />Merry Christmas

Posted By: <b>hankron</b><p>Julie, the most amazing thing I discovered when I moved to Seattle was the rosemary bushes. People grew rosemary in the midwest, but it was like the fuzz on a chia pet. And in Seattle, people had rosemary has bushes five feet high that they had to (gasp) trim with the hedge clippers. When Wisconsinites visited for the first time, I would make sure to take them to Pike Street Market (touristy), the sound and to see the mammoth rosemary bushes around the neighborhood.

Posted By: <b>warshawlaw</b><p>Rosemary grows like a weed out here; you can train shrubs into man-sized trees (takes 30 years...). We use it as ground cover. It doesn't need water and spreads like crazy. If you ever have the chance to meander down the California coast from Carmel on Highway 1, it is a beautiful drive and there are amazing stands of wild rosemary at virtually every scenic turnout between Carmel and Big Sur. We did it in June and every time we got out of the car the scent was overwhelming. We pulled a few sprigs and put them in the sun in the car to freshen it up as we drove.
