Many here may already be familiar with this site, Retrosheet, as it has close ties to SABR and is an excellent online resource.

http://www.retrosheet.org/

It only takes a couple clicks to gain access to a full year worth of box scores of your favorite team(s). I copied (simple copy / paste) all eight 1887 National League teams (scores, starting pitchers, etc.) into an Excel spreadsheet and played with the data this weekend. The graph below shows the 1887 National League Championship race.

Look at that Philadelphia charge at the end of the season (they didn't lose a single game during their last 17 contests). A couple teams kept Detroit honest throughout the season. It was an interesting resource for me, I'm sure I'll be spending more time there.

Regards,
Joe Gonsowski
twinturbo@comcast.net

I know one thing that the people of Retrosheet would like are copies of any scored scoresheets or scorecards from early seasons, whether the scoring is unofficial or official, in order that the goal of getting a complete box score of every major league game can be achieved. At present, there are no box scores entered on the website before 1963, which by any stretch is post at least of couple of wars.

Max

Think has more to do with my unfamiliarity to game strategy back then anything else. DMB is the absolute best baseball simulator out there. You can play games yourself, or let the computer play out the season. This is purely a strategy game, not a twitch game. Games can be completed in 20 minutes or less.

Jay

Wow upside down is Mom. Mom upside down is what dad wants to see.
