Posted By: Richard
I have recently been given a large box of cigarette cards, all the dated ones seem to be 1880s-1890s and include bathing belles, horses, filmstars etc. Amongst the collection are about 40 baseball cards. I have absolutely no idea about these things so would appreciate any info. Sadly they appear to have been glued onto an album page or something and have later been cut out with the backing still on the cards which I imagine will affect their value. 6 samples in pic.

The names arent clear in the pic, they are:

Arundel, catcher Indiannapolis.
Richardson 2nd base, NY.
O'Brien, 1st base, Washington
Denny 3rd base, Indiannapolis.
Anson, 1st base, Chicago
Keefe, Pitcher, NY

Thankyou.

Posted By: Jason
I know the Buchner's are trimmed and therefore not worth a whole lot, but I'd still be interested in some of them if you wanted to send me a list of what you had I'll make you an offer.

jberry306@shaw.ca

The ones with the white backgrounds are N28 Allen & Ginters, and the others are Buchner Gold Coins....complete listings of both can be found in Lemke's Standard Catalogue of Baseball Cards. You've got a good number of hall of fame players...those are the ones in bold print above. IMO, the bolded cards could get you anywhere between $40-$125 apiece, depending on condition and player appeal. The Anson card is particularily notable. As for the other cards, probably $15 or less apiece for the most part, although the baseball players almost always sell for more than the other sports. Hope this will help a bit
