Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
The heartbreak of a 7 year old watching the Red Sox lose to the Cardinals in the 1967 World Series has just been lifted. As a long suffering Red Sox fan, it doesn't get any better. PURE JOY!

Hope all of Red Sox Nation sleeps peacefully tonight!

Patrick

Posted By: Gary B.
I didn't get excited this game until the VERY LAST OUT with memories of 1986 VERY fresh in my mind - ahead by 3 runs with 2 outs in the 9th and I've had too many years of disappointment to truly fully believe, but once that last out happened - wow - the red sox in 4 straight against the cardinals after 4 straight against the yankees? It's like a dream....

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
Little did I realize the symbolic nature of the front of the Baseball Hall of Fame ticket that I purchased on August 17th earlier this year (see scan).....The front of the ticket shows the symbols of the Angels on a batting helmet, and a New York Yankee's logo on their uniform......Symbols of the two teams that the Red Sox would have to beat in order to get to the World Series....Did I believe in the curse?...You better believe I did...but it's over!

Posted By: Scottopotamus
(a feeble attempt at early morning humor...congrats and kudos to the Red Sox and their long suffering fans)

After another long and tiring 86 year wait, the Boston Red Sox have brought the International Championship trophy back to Boston, downing the Mexico City Axtecs 4-1 in tonight’s seventh and deciding game at Exxon/Mobil/Chevron/Texaco Stadium.

A tight game throughout the first six innings, the Red Sox put the game away in the seventh inning as Derek Jeter IV blasted a three run shot over the giant “Soylent Green Monster” hologram in left field.

Making his last start for the Red Sox before retiring, Pedro Martinez III, called “Three Pete” by the Boston faithful, allowed just one run on five hits before giving way to the Automatronic 3000 Robotic Pitching Machine.

Historians may remember that it was almost 86 years to the date when the “Curse of the Bambino” was lifted as the Red Sox defeated their long time rival, the former New York Yankees (now known as the “United Nation City Diplomats”), in what was then known as the “American League Championship Series” and sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in the so called "World Series". Interestingly, St. Louis' mascot, the Cardinal, is now extinct, and the former “Yankees” have still not found a way to break “Torre’s Curse”. The hex was named after the long time New York Manager, Joe Torre, who was strangled to death by legendary Yankee owner, George Steinbrenner, in November of 2004 after blowing a three games to none to the Red Sox.

Scottoptamus
My T206 Web Site

<a href="http://www.freewebs.com/scottopotamus</a" target=_new>http://www.freewebs.com/scottopotamus</a>
