He had either 1 or 2 other identical balls to the one I have, and I'm not sure what happened to them, but I'm guessing one of them found its way into your hands!

Posted By: MikePugedaThanks Brock, Clemente has always been my favorite post-war player. There always seems to be a few team signed balls on e-bay if you're not super picky. I picked up the 1960 ball on e-bay 4-5 years ago for just a little over $300. The signatures have bled a bit, but I figured I wasn't going to find a 1960 ball for any cheaper. His cut (authenticated) sigs have seemed to bring big bucks lately on e-bay. I think I've seen some recently sell for over $1000. Kind of tempts me to take my signed index cards and have them graded, but naaaahhh...they just wouldn't look as nice. Good luck in your search, I'm sure you will find a decent example with a little patience. Mike

Posted By: David AtkatzThanks for the kind words, guys. I got incredibly lucky with that 1927 ball. First, I obtained it years ago, before prices went absolutely nuts. And it was in an auction venue that, at the time, was known for cards rather than memorabilia, so I was not competing against many bidders, and, thankfully, none with really deep pockets.

In 2005, a client I was representing on some real estate deals who was a Brooklyn expatriate and who was a FOS (Friend Of Sandy) told me that Koufax was coming to LA for the 50th anniversary of the 1955 championship and that he would have Koufax sign something for me if I wanted. I asked him to have Koufax sign the Ryan ball with the same personalized inscription as Ryan used. When he gave Koufax the ball, my client told me that Koufax looked it over and said "Why the f**k would I want to be on a ball with Ryan?" He was joking of course and inscribed and signed it for me. Posted By: Bob ManningGents; I dont have a picture, but my favorite ball, better than the 60 Pirates with 2 Clementes, better than the 36 Yankees with rookie DiMaggio, is one from the 1953 St. Louis Browns, signed by: Marty Marion, the manager, and now the oldest living ex-Cardinal; Clint (Scrap Iron) Courtney, by reputation the first catcher to wear glasses; Bob (Sugar) Cain, who pitched to Veecks midget Eddie Gaedel; Vic Wertz, who, in the 54 series, hit the ball that Willie Mays turned into The Catch; Dick Kryhoski and Jim Dyck, who, with Courtney, hit the only back-to-back-to-back homers in Brownies history; Johnny Groth, the next DiMaggio, who in 1950 hit .306 in 157 games for the Tigers, and never came close again; and some guy named Paige. Posted By: David AtkatzThat's Herb Pennock (signed "H.J. Pennock"), not Hank Johnson. The ball was signed by both Dutch Ruether and Wilcy Moore. 1927 was Ruether's last year, and Moore's first. Additionally, it's a Ban Johnson ball. 1927 was the last year for them. There's no doubt it's a '27 ball.
