Posted By: Ray
First, I have to say this is a great forum that I happened to trip over after a little Googling. I wanted to ask folks about a trophy I purchased a few weeks back for $300. I am just getting into sports trophies and am entering a field I am not 100% sure of values but it sure looks great on the shelf which is most important. Is this a fairly common trophy?
Thanks - Ray

Posted By: Dan Bretta
$300 is a steal for that trophy...it is worth multiples of that. I wouldn't say the trophy is rare or scarce, but the Spalding figurals are among the most highly desired by trophy collectors.

Nice going!

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
$300 was about 5-10% of what they're worth in nice shape. Have seen them around $5K in nice shape. Yours is pretty nice, maybe not top of the line but I'd guess $3-$4K. Other people closer to the issue will chime in I'm sure.

Posted By: Ray
Hey - thanks for the feedback. I enjoy going to the hole in the wall auctions where most items are glassware, comics, magazines, etc. and these things pop up. I will post another question here about a ball I purchased today which is not as cool - but I had to have it !!

Thanks Again!!

Posted By: Ricky
Great pick up. As already stated, they are desired by collectors, but not rare. Probably 2,000-4,000 in value (IMO), depending on different factors. By the way, are there any inscriptions? Date of the award? Is the tiny Dieges & Clusts band still on it? Glad you got it, if you ever want to part ways with it let me know. All the best in your treasure hunts!

If you check out the photo gallery on my site http://oldbaseballbats.webs.com/ , you'll see the catcher, the baseman and pitcher.
Matt
