Posted By: John Young
In light of the recent conversation on the main forum on the Doyle T206 variation, I thought I'd post this...

I picked this up about 10 years ago on Ebay from someone selling items from an estate in Kansas. I think it's a personalized invite and ticket for "J.B. Doyle and Lady". "Slow" Joe Doyle's actual name was Judd Bruce Doyle and he was born in Clay Center, KS. This ticket was mailed on April 22, 1909 to a Miss Gertrude McKee(... the envelope cuts off here) in Clay Center, KS. It arrived on April 24th. I've assumed it was mailed as a souvenir to a family member or a special lady friend from Slow Joe's hometown.

I find it interesting that the team is referred to as the "Greater New York Base-Ball Club of the American League", not as the Highlanders.

If anyone has any other personal info on Joe Doyle or some pics of him besides his T206, I'd love to see them.

Posted By: davidcycleback
John, it's a interesting item. Just so you know, the lack of posts is more than probably due to the rarity of Slow Joe items. I'm sure folks would be posting their Doyle photos and autographs if they had em.
