Posted By: Brock G.
Picked up another one of these Jackie Robinson tie racks recently and this one had some damage. Didn't really know what I was going to do with it but today, out of sheer boredom, I decided to tap into my inner craftsman and started cutting on it. About two hours and a lot of sanding later this was the result. It still needs a little smoothing around the edges but I thought it turned out pretty cool looking. I am now thinking it could really look good with a new paint job. Anyone here a capable artist or have any ideas of a paint theme?
Before:

After:

Posted By: Mike H
I wouldn't paint it Brock. The look it has currently is ideal. You did a nice job with it, but I would leave it alone. It would be nearly impossible to re-paint it and have not look...well...like it was re-painted.

Posted By: Mark
I agree with Mike about not painting it. Although, we cannot see the top edge (which was the part you actually cut. If it looks raw along that edge, I'm sure you can do some good touch-up/blending work. As for the front however, definitely leave it vintage!

Great job, btw.... it looks infinitely better than before with the broken corner!

Posted By: Brock G.
Thanks for the feedback fellas. I guess you all talked me out of having it painted...maybe????? I was reluctant to hack it up too but am pleased with the results. Maybe painting it will turn out the same way (if I decide to have it painted). If anybody is interested in purchasing or trading for it just let me know before I haul off and ruin it.
