I have a 1920's/30's Walter Johnson game which is complete with game pieces, and scoring card but is missing the one page instructions. Any ideas as to how to secure one? I've been looking for a few years now.

thanks

Phil

If you're looking for an actual sample of the original directions, that's a tough assignment, as you'd probably have to buy another entire game (well, not entire -- that one one would likely be missing some other component!).

If you just want the directions per se, though, so that you can play the game, they're ridiculously simple (you probably figured them out yourself). They're written like this:

DIRECTIONS
Write in names of favorite players on score card.
Open spinner and get men.
Each person spins for their team.
Play is as shown on the uppermost side of the top.
Top spins best on felt or covered table.
Place men on score board for outs, strikes, balls.

And that's it. Some editions (the game was in production from 1930 until at least 1940) omit the second direction above.

Butch et al
Baseball Games
http://members.aol.com/Butch7999/Baseball.htm
(soon to move to a new address on-line)
