Posted By: Todd Schultz
I won this in a lot of stuff years ago, and it is the only Burke photo of 20 or so I own that has no identification. It would likely date from 1934-1944, give or take. Any help appreciated:

Posted By: Todd Schultz
Jodi. Was Auker a coach after his playing career? The reason I ask is that this photo (apologize for the scan--it's old and could be sharpened/given higher res) shows what appears to be a left shoulder patch. What was puzzling about Auker was that he stopped playing in Detoit in 1938, and I thought this patch was the centennial patch worn by all teams in 1939. Now after looking into that other Burke photo today, I believe the patch is more likely one worn during the war years (a shield design), and Auker stopped playing for anyone after 1942. Did he coach for the Tigers in the '40's? Am I just delirious in thinking there is a shoulder patch there?

Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
Wow! My eyes certainly deceived me that time. It certainly is Trout. My bad. The image very closely resembles one that Auker used to send out with autograph requests. Same nose, but different eyebrows (not to mention Latin ear parts!).
