Posted By: Aaron Conyers
I have some baseballs that I'm thinking of sending to JSA or PSA/DNA. I would like some opinions before I send them in so I don't waste my money on grading fees. Thanks for helping.

Posted By: Mark
I'll take a stab, as a collector who's seen lots of these (and not an authenticator). I like them all except for possibly Mantle.

Mantle may even be ok... there are thousands of skillful fakes out there, so I'm always leary of these. Just something about the two "Ms" on this one don't look right to me... especially the much shorter second "hump".

This would not be the first time I'm wrong, so please take it for what its worth. Eager to see what others say...

Posted By: boxingcardman
I have one with the "l" instead of "nk" that I got in person in 1995, but that "H" is wrong and the way he does the "A" is different. The Joe D looks bad. The Mantle looks good to me. I'm not familiar w/Ted W. enough to comment on that one. Don't even know who the illegible one is.

Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc

Posted By: Aaron Conyers
Seems like some mixed opinions. But all appreciated. Anyone else care to give their opinion please feel free. Still not sure which ones to send in for authentication.

Posted By: Fudd
Frankly, I think the Aaron is good. It's what we collectors call the "Star" Aaron version. I prefer the "nk" in Hank version. The ball is probably a William White. He has been known to also sign a "shaky old man" version in big letters for Steiner on some Leonard Coleman and Selig balls.

The Joe Dotmaggio doesn't have enough "dots" for me. The strong Dimaggio's aren't sloppy but signed with great care. He usually puts 3 dots on the ball. One above the "M" and 2 above and below the "io". I wouldn't say that it is fake for sure, but for me, I wouldn't buy it.

The Nickey Nantle appears to be what my friends and I like to joke is a "Shakey Shantle". If it's shakey, it's a fakey. Shelly could tell you more about this one in a second. It looks like the M in Mantle is shaky at the bottom, but I can't tell for sure. I also don't like the "c" in Mickey, but wtf do I know.

The Ted Williams has the one charateristic that is from known forgers and therefore; I personally would say it's a Splendid Splinter in your "A". That is: the open small "a" in Williams is a tell tale sign that it could be a forgery. The real ones always are closed a's.

I'm not PSA/DNA, just a dope who has been taken for quite a ride to get to where I am now and that's not too far! FUDD

Posted By: Jimmy
There maybe a few worth sending in you just never know, but defiantly not the Ted Williams, I agree with the above (the "a" needs to be closed)

Jimmy
