Posted By: brock
Hello
I was wondering how rare a ticket from July 4, 1939. The date that Lou Gehrig made his famous speech. I always thought the Lou Gehrig memorial day ticket that you see on ebay alot was the day he made his speech, but he had died already. Does anyone know what the July 4, 1939 ticket would go for. Thanks

Posted By: David Atkatz
Hi, Brock. The Gehrig Appreciation Day tickets seem to be quite rare. In more than forty years of collecting I've seen four, including the one I own, and one of those is at the Hall of Fame.

I bought mine about eight years ago, from a guy in New Jersey who had two. I paid $950. Since then I've been offered more than $2k, but the ticket's not for sale.
