Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
I have a first edition of this book with dust jacket. It's packed away, so I can't get to it right now. I believe it was published in 1919. The book itself is in very nice condition, hardly any wear, while the DJ has a couple of minor tears along the edges. Any clue as to value?

You can only tell the dust jacket, as the book and its subsequent printings don't indicate the printing. Grosset & Dunlap was normally a reprint house, and this is one of the few books in which it came out as a first.\

That said, the book is quite common, even with a dj. Not much value, unless you can truly identify the dj as a first and find one of the few collectors to whom it would make a difference. Maybe $30 to $50

Max

Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
Thanks for the info. I paid $20 for it perhaps 15 years ago, so, although it won't allow me to retire, at least I'm still ahead of the game.

I would love to find an autograph of Zane Grey from his playing days. If I recall correctly, he played under the name of "Pearl Zane" during part of that time.
