Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
I have to say...against. So little of the non-card memorabilia offered is of any interest to me. I would change my opinion if the quality/type of items offered were to improve.

Posted By: ErlandStevens
I would vote to leave the memorabilia B/S/T posts under the appropriate category in the B/S/T area. I'll give two reasons. First, although the memorabilia forum may not be super busy now, it has improved markedly over the past few months. If it keeps growing, it will soon have plenty of traffic without B/S/T posts. Second, I think it's cleaner to have all the forums (fora?!?) operating under the same rules. I will say that, regardless of the decision (whether by Dan or Leon), the memorabilia forum will be just fine. I don't see it as a make-or-break issue.

Posted By: Mark Steinberg
I vote yes. Would love to see what other Board Members have to offer, and think that the increased posts would generate more interest on this side of the board.

Only stipulation would be to limit this to quality pieces and no mass-produced junk. I don't know how you would want to administer this, and would leave it to you and Leon to enforce some rules. A couple of possible examples...

* Only items from 1950s and earlier
* Only items valued at _____ or more

This would potentially weed out the modern junk items. You could always retract the B/S/T, if (for whatever reason) it is not working well, or is corrupting the forum.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
FWIW I wouldn't mind seeing a single B/S/T thread per month on this forum...I would stipulate that any item being listed in the thread be pre-1960 and that no negative comments will be allowed...if someone lists a price you don't like there's no need to comment.

I feel one thread/month will not clutter up this board. Leon has already left it up to us so we will go with majority opinion. I will let this poll run a couple of days. Long enough for all the regulars to see it, vote and comment on it.

Posted By: barrysloate
Dan- it seems to be working fine the way it is. I think hobby discussions and hobby sales should remain separate. I think this board will start to get very cluttered with "Looking to Buy and Sell" threads.

Posted By: leon
It would only be 1 thread rotating for all of the BST...not numerous threads. Before your time on the main board it's the way ALL of the BST sales were done...One rotating thread.....When Brian and I took over we made it, it's own section. Can you imagine what the main board would be like if there were BST's on it today, with the amount there are? regards

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Yes, I should have mentioned that the one thread idea was used on the main board many years ago and worked very well.

Posted By: barrysloate
That would certainly be better than numerous threads, and I had a feeling I misunderstood.

However, it seems like it is fine the way it is. But I don't mind the change if you feel it would be an improvement (and I remember when the main board had a BST thread).

If you do have a single thread however it may get very long and hard to negotiate. The separate section works nicely and is better formatted. Just my opinion. And I hardly use BST anyway, so please count my opinion as half a vote.

Posted By: ramram
I'll vote yes.

If nothing else we can try it for a few months on a trial basis and if we don't like it we can move it back the way it was. No big deal.

Rob M.

Posted By: leon
One last thing (yeah, that's what they all say!!) about the one thread idea on this forum. It would probably be 1 per month....I doubt if it would get to be more than 20-30 posts in total....and probably less....Like I say...you guys decide. I was only clarifying a bit...best regards

Posted By: Max Weder
I vote yes. There is very little traffic on this board. As Rob says, if junk starts showing up for sale, the board can change this. From the b/s/t on the memorabilia side, there is on average maybe one post a day. If you don't want to read it, you don't need to

Max

Posted By: Mike H
I vote yes. With the limitations listed earlier. No Crap and Dan and Leon designate what is worthy. Also, no threads on the main board promoting what is in the bst section.

It isn't really a thread is it? I thought it was simply a link you click that lists whatever someone wants to list. One improvement over the card side would be that the item is removed once it is sold.

Posted By: barrysloate
Jon- a half vote is 8/16, right? So I have to find a way to divide it up between "yes" and "no".

Now I'm thinking more like 11/32 of a vote for "yes", and 5/32 of a vote for "no." I am waffling a little.

Posted By: Elliot
I would vote to have a separate thread each month, but given my experience with it, I would be clear which day of the month it starts as people will always try to jumpstart it.
Also, a point of clarification.....I believe it was Bill that set up the BST in it's own section.

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
Dan, I would love to see a thread each month. It would bring back memories of the old BST thread from several years ago. I had quite a bit of success with the old system, as everyone saw everyones posts. The way the New BST works I myself have missed posts when they are in a category that I don't frequent and someone else posts right after the item I wnated and it gets buried. If it doesn't bear fruit we could always scrap the idea but it is worth a try to spice things up a little. I for one would probably frequent this side a bit more than once a day if we have a thread.
-Rhett

Posted By: Greg Theberge
It doesn't matter to me one way or the other, but I agree with Mark. This is supposed to be the memorabilia side of the "pre-war" side of the card forum. As such, what's posted should be pre-war (with a give or take to stuff that's a little later, fifties - early sixties? -but no modern stuff from the seventies on up).

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Greg
