Posted By: <b>Mike H</b><p>I find the arrogance of the top authenticator disturbing. His statement that "you will get a lot more for your autograph" points out all that is wrong with the autograph industry. How about saying "our process can give you additional comfort regarding the authenticity".

It seems he should proactively and vocally make a few necessary changes, and should be personally involved with counseling his authenticators.<br /><br />I don't think that a detached or passive approach to fixing this is warranted. It also seems that something should be posted on his website, in order to alleviate people's concerns. <br /><br />I know that Spence's authenticators must put greater effort into the review process of rarer/more valuable autographs than Bando (who was signing at the very event in question). There is little reason for an authenticator to suspect a fake Sal Bando autograph. But this is still a "black eye" that should be addressed with strong corrective action, if Spence hopes to retain any of his previous status.
