Posted By: Alan Elefson
Hi-
I recently came across the flip book picuted below. It is from 1957 and put out by Gillette CO. The pictures are of Paul Richards, then Orioles skipper and formerly White Sox manager. Any idea of a value for this (as usual it was a cheap flea market find for me)?
Please also post your own vintage flip books!
Alan Elefson
aelefson@hotmail.com

Posted By: Dan Bretta
That's pretty cool Alan...I've not seen that one before.

I had an old flipbook for a Dempsey/Firpo fight, but I sold it long ago...one of my biggest collecting mistakes happened a few years ago when I was on one of my favorite local buying trips to small town Nebraska. I stopped into a shop and asked the fellow working if he had any old baseball stuff and he told me to hold on a minute and he went into his backroom...when he came out he was holding a 1930's Reach 12 count box with 11 baseballs in it...10 of which were team signed balls of minor league teams and one was a 1937 Brooklyn Dodgers signed ball. He sold me the whole box and a great framed composite photo of a 1910 team named the White City Ramblers for $500 which is really over my limit on these little excursions, but how could I pass that up??? The next shop I stopped into had a Quaker Oats Babe Ruth flip book for $50...I asked the lady to open the case so I could look at it and it was just about perfect....I thought about it and then told myself that I'm already going to have to explain to my wife why I went overbudget already and I better not buy anything else....Whoops! I thought about it when I got home and my wife didn't really say anything to me when I told her what I spent so I called up the Antique store to see if they would set it aside and it was gone.
