Posted By: David Keller
Wanted to thank everyone again for showing your pins in the earlier thread. I learned a lot. That's why I'm posting this one....to learn more. I have these two, Reds and Tigers and based on their apparent age I figured that they were associated with the 1940 World Series. That is until I saw one for Pittsburg. Can anyone tell me anything about these? When were they distributed? How? Why? Appreciate your help.

Posted By: David Keller
I'm surprised no one has any thoughts on these. Have any of you seen any others besides the Reds, Tigers or Pirates?

Posted By: Mike H
I would guess it dates to the 30s or 40s but that is a complete guess. I don't think there is any info available on them. There isn't an example in Hake's or Muchinsky's books. Sorry
Posted By: Clint
David- I've seen one of these before. It came with a group of other items from the Ralph Winegarner estate. He played in the 30's and 40's. I don't know what his connection to Detroit was unless it was as a scout or coach. I purchased another Tigers item from him that was in this group also.

Clint

Posted By: Dan Bretta
I'm guessing that if the only one you've ever seen came from a player's estate then these were probably items only given to players. If Mike and I have never seen one and you've only seen one other I'm guessing these are pretty rare.

Posted By: David Keller
I've seen two Reds ones, one Tigers and one Pirates. I love the pin, but was just wondering about their origins. Thanks for the help.
